I live in RI. What hotel are you booked for? It will be easier to provide recommendations for bars/restaurants that are within crawling walking distance...

The beaches are nice (you might want to take a trip across the bridge and head to beaches in Narragansett). The big Newport beach is pretty small in comparison to the ones in Narragansett. Wheeler Beach is family-friendly and Scarborough Beach is where the college kids go. First Beach in Newport is a mix of locals, tourists, college kids and families, I think it's kinda weird there IMO.

Depending on finances, consider a boat charter. They do sight-seeing trips at all times of the day, for all diff lengths of time. I've never looked into a group rate...but I hear they're fun, and I'm sure all the ladies could get some sun while staying cool with the ocean breeze.

Theres plenty of shopping downtown, but unless you're NOT looking for souveniers, it can be quite pricey. Basically, its a frickin tourist trap down there!!

Oh....and theres a place with slots in Newport, if anyone is up for gambling. Cheap drinks there, thats for sure. I speak from experience.
