I was planning to have my bachelorette weekend in the Finger Lakes in NY – but the almost 7 hour drive from Boston is deterring a few of my gals…. so as alternative I was thinking of doing the Connecticut Wine Trail and maybe spending a night in Mystic. I would love to hear any thoughts on this – anyone been on the CT Trail and can give reccomendations for the best vineyards to visit? Any recommendations for hotel/restaurants/bars in Mystic?
Thanks a bunch!

I have done the entire wine trail. Haight-Brown in Litchfield is the best actual wine. Heritage Trail is the best for ambiance (all outside, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and every time I’ve been there, there’s been a bachelor/bachelorette party there). Gouveia in Wallingford has the best view. Sharpe Hill has the best dessert wines. The trail takes about 3 days to do (even though they say 2). Have a blast- I can help more if you want 🙂 I’ve only stayed at the Hyatt in Mystic and it was nice- and location was good too. Lots of cute little hotels there though…

Hey Kbowen.. we have the same wedding day!
Anyway, I used to live in Mystic and despite the fact it’s a very small town, it’s a great place to go out & would be really fun for a bachelorette. Jonathan Edwards is a really beautiful winery in Stonington, as well as Stonington Vineyards… I am having my wedding at a new (and absolutely incredible) vineyard in Stonington called Saltwater Farm Vineyard, but I don’t believe they will be open for tasting by next year. How many vineyards were you thinking of going to? The only drawback is they are pretty spread apart in CT.. there’s Chamard in Clinton which also is not far.
As far as bars in Mystic I definitely know all the ins and outs from being a former “townie”! The Harp and Hound is my personal fav place to go.. cute smaller pub bar which is probably the most loved bar in the area. Second, and more of a ‘party’ bar would be the bar in the bottom level of DPI (Daniel Packer Inn).. within walking distance of the Harp. If you’re thinking of starting with dinner/apps and drinks the place to go is Azu.. amazing food, not too expensive, and an incredible drink list… definitely more of an upscale fun/trendy place to go. Feel free to message me if you want to know more!
