Ok, I might be biased 'cause I'm getting married there, but I'd like to recommend Temecula. Temecula is the closet wine country area, closer than Santa Barbara. You can do a whole weekend of it. There are nice vacation home rentals and hotels. You can go wine tasting, go on a hot air balloon ride, get pampered at a spa, and gamble at local casinos. Night life isn't too exciting though. It would be more a fun, relaxed, girls weekend.
I always recommend San Diego. LA is a pain because it takes 20 minutes to go 2 miles. San Diego has a great downtown area with a concentration of restaurants, clubs, and lodging. It's safe easy to get around without a car and FUN. Orange County is a little too spread out although there are areas like downtown Fullerton that can offer some good choices. Temecula is good if your'e wine tasting but like Charm said, there's not much nightlife.
I was going to say Temecula also, or Santa Ynez. Depends on the kind of bachelorette you're interested in, but I think it would be a blast. :)
I like San Diego and Santa Barbara best as they have great restaurants, shopping, spas and night life all in one central area so you don't have to drive around. When is the party? In the summer, Palm Springs is fun. The JW Marriott goes off and has a pool party all day, and a club at the hotel so you never have to leave.
I live in the OC, and have to warn you it's pretty quiet here in suburbia! We do have good shopping and spas. Laguna Beach is nice with good restaurants and cute boutiques. Newport Beach can be fun, but stuff is spread out. Huntington Beach's Main St area is fun if you are in your early twenties.
Hello Ladies,
I gotta tell ya, that these ideas have been GREAT! I have narrowed it down to Santa Barbara and then possibly Palm Springs. Santa Barbara I know well and personally know of some cool things to do. Palm Springs sounds like a bunch of old people, but I am totally open!
Thanks!
I LOVE santa barbara! My fiance and I went to UCSB and thats where we met. I think theres so much to do there and it just has this cozy charm about it. I would pick SB over palm springs any day! I also love sandiego, but it sounds like thats already out anyway.
We went to Temecula. We went wine tasting all day, played some silly games in the hotel room, hit up the free happy hour at the hotel (heck yes Embassy Suites) and then went line dancing at a local country bar (The Stampeede). We all had a blast, even the people who had never been into line dancing before.
Palm Springs has some nice spas and pretty swanky bars/clubs.
@july: OMG I go to UCSB :) where I met my bf! Gaucho Pride!
SB rocks!! Enjoy your bachlorette party!
If it's between SB and Palm springs, we vote Santa Barbara all the way! It's close to interesting things like wine tasting, the ocean, etc. Palm Springs is close to desert... and desert. They do have some nice boutique hotels, dining, and food BUT so does Santa Barbara in a much nicer setting.
I just picked Santa Barbara today, after a week of deliberating between SB, Laguna Beach/Newport, LA, or S.F.!
For all you ladies who are familiar with SB, what are your recommended hotels (midrange), things to do, wineries, and nightlife? I would LOVE any suggestions! I'll go start my own thread on this on the boards so I don't hijack this one, lol.
Last spring I went to a bacheloretee weekend in San Diego and it was awesome. We rented a house in La jolla (it was about $200 each for a long weekend), went clubbing in the Gas Lamp District, sunbathed on the beach, went to the San Diego Zoo and had a bbq with amazing sangria. It was honestly the best bachelorette I have EVER been to.

Hi Ladies,
My MOH is asking me for ideas for what I want for a weekend bachelorette party in So Cal. I really have no idea but I want to avoid LA as much as possible, as I am from LA and want something new. Location ideas are:
Palm Springs
OC
San Diego
If you had a party there or went to a party there, can you please share your thoughts and ideas and likes/dislikes?
Thanks,
PS - we're skipping the strippers.
