Pictures - they're worth 1,000 words
Just landed in Bora Bora ready to hop on our boat to the hotel!!!
The below is a view from standing inside our over water bungalow. Our deck faced east so we got the sun from about 1pm on..It was spectacular!
It rained 20 minutes every single morning. This was at about 6:45am we sat on our deck drank coffee and admired the 'bows'
My infamous kiss face, always have to give the kiss face LOL
On our way home
If you are planning on going to Bora Bora / Moorea you will have the time of your life. Its very hard not too...
@jackie-o: Congrats!! What a wonderful honeymoon! I don't know how you stepped foot on the plane to come home! :)
@Lala61111: it was VERY hard. Especially bc the trip home was 12 hrs of flying and 6 hrs of layovers
@jackie-o: Glad you are back and had a great time!! Your pictures are beautiful!
Also, your kiss face made me think of Jersey Shore, LOL!!!
OMG these photos are absolutely beautiful!!! I have no idea how you came home!! AHH!!
Wow. I used to like you. Now I am overcome by insane jealousy over your fabulous honeymoon! It's gorgeous!!!
unbelievable--it looks absolutely beautiful! would so love to be there right now. welcome back!
@june42011: I just lost my coffee via my nose, LMAO
No joke - if its not a honeymoon I hope that each of you have a moment of your married journey to spend a week or two on the islands of Tahiti. They are beyond these pictures magical!!!
We were looking at an all-inclusive in Jamaica, but after seeing your photos, FI says we're going to look into this. We're traveling from Iowa, so we'd have to fly to LA and then take the long flight from LA to Bora Bora.
Could you share what hotel you stayed at (specifically with the glass floor)? Any advice / things you would avoid/do differently?
Figi is my dream honeymoon but I'm thinking Bora Bora could be an awful close second!
@milesbella: The flight isn't that bad honestly. LA to Papeete is direct 8 hrs, its all you can drink and they serve two meals + have movies etc. It goes by really quickly. I can only speak from experience - DH and I went to Moorea and Bora Bora and we learned we would have been more than fine going to Bora Bora only, but who knew right we sure didn't. So advice 1. Bora Bora only.
We are Starwood members and stayed at the Le Meridien Bora Bora. Its newly renovated (they closed 10/1/2010 reopened 1/24/2011) and its beyond wonderful. The service was top notch, and the property was divine. They also have a turtle sanctuary where you can swim with the turles (the other resorts don't have that.) Its next to the St Regis and since the St Regis is a Starwood property too, they do free pick up/drop off if you wanna grab dinner there one night (which we of course took advantage of). Sidenote - each resort is on a mini island so if you want to leave you take the resort boat (free at Le Meridien) or a water taxi which is very expensive! Bora Bora is pricey. Example - breakfast is a buffet which is $74 per person. $148 x 9 days = $1332 for breakfast only. We got a package that included breakfast so that was great. Advice 2. if there is a package that includes breakfast go for that.
In Moorea we had a garden bungalow at The Hilton (same place Mrs Lobster stayed). It was also very sexy and we loved that it had a private pool sundeck area.
If you have any questions or want more details PLEASE do not hesitate sending me a PM - I am more than happy to go on and on about specifics and details,
Oh and we booked through Tahiti Travel Mate, which I found here on WB through another bride.
WOW--that looks incredible! I wish me and FI had lots of vacation time (and money) and we could go there for our HM too--it's definitely my dream vacation.
DOUBLE RAINBOW!!! those pictures are fantastic - the water there looks incredible
OH my god, I am so overcome with jealousy!! The pictures are beautiful and you two look SO HAPPY!! I'm glad you had such a kickass honeymoon :)
@totheislnds: lol all I can think of now is that youtube video.....oh double rainbows
OMG OMG OMG!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE BACK! I WILL DEFINITELY BE PM'ING YOU since i'll be going to moorea/bora bora for my HM too!
I'm so excited! Would LOVE to see more pics! Did you use the spa at hilton moorea? how was it?
Wow. Just completely wow. I love that you can see the water through the window in the floor. What an amazing trip! I hope that FI and I can afford to travel thusly someday.
@pooks75: I have loads of pictures and I am more than happy to share them but I don't want to 'overstay my welcome' if you know what I mean. Oh gosh I hate to share this, I am terribly terribly ticklish and have tried relaxing and enjoying massages and they just aren't for me
No we didn't have a massage, but in Bora Bora we did go to the spa and use their facilities and amenities, it was lovely.
AMAZING!! Looks so romantic and dreamy! If you don't mind, can you tell us how long you were there and how much you budgeted for the entire trip?
@hibiscusgirl: we were there for 10 days and we budgeted $9500 for the entire trip.
That looks just divine!
What happened to your hubby's leg?
Were there lots of activities to do there? Or was it more of a relaxing/beachy vacation?
@KatNYC2011: ugh this is very sad...We rented scooters in Moorea and a car stopped short in front of him. To avoid hitting the car he swirved and crashed the scooter. He had to have emergency surgery in Papeete bc he broke his left big toe & the bone was sticking out so it was a high risk of infection. It totally SUCKED and he wasn't able to participate in any water activities. He was a total sport and it didn't ruin a single part of the honeymoon.
Its a mix of relaxation and water activities. We also played a ton of ping pong since DH couldn't go into the water, LOL We made the very best of our time there!
@jackie-o: OUCH poor guy! Hope he heals up ok. Ping Pong in paradise... what could be nicer?
@jackie-o: I know too many people that had accidents on scooters in foreign countries that I wont rent them ever!
so glad you had a great time anyway. The pictures are a dream.
Beautiful! Wow! Thanks for sharing. So sorry about your husband's surgery, but it looks like you both still had a blast!
@lefeymw: i wish we knew too, ugh he was so upset and feels terrible. My suggested - rent a dune buggie, go on the ATV tour, or rent a car - DO NOT RENT A SCOOTER. Moorea is very small and for a half day you can go around the island. There is a gorgeous natural water fall, stop at the juice factory, and the view along the way are amazing...
That looks so beautiful! Glad you had a great time! Def on my wish list of places I must visit one day.
Okay, cannot.resist.any.longer: Whooooah. Double rainbowwww. lol That said, Tahiti looks amazing-always wanted to go and I'm as green as Elvira in Wicked right now:) You both looked like you had a great time despite the moped mishap.
Oh Now I will just have to put that on my bucket list. I always wanted to go to Tahiti. Now I HAVE to!!
@jackie-o: Looks gorgeous! Glad you had an amazing and memorable time.
