Wait, so they ordered your size, and the designer sent them a completely different size because it was all they had?? And they didn’t tell you about it until now??? That is horrible. At least you had a good experience at that salon, so you’ll probably have a good experience again with them, looking for another dress.

@Irish2014:  Oh, you poor thing! I’m glad that you found out after 5 weeks and not 5 months, but I still definitely feel your pain about having to start again, especially when you’d already fallen in love with another dress. It’s such a big thing. It really doesn’t seem right that you would not have been told that a dress in a smaller size was being sent, either – someone screwed up there. I am sending all my good vibes your way in the hopes that you quickly find another dress that makes you entirely forget about the first one.

Glad to hear that the salon owner is playing ball with footing the bill for the difference with a more expensive dress, but you shouldn’t feel obliged to purchase a dress from the same salon when they weren’t able to fulfill the order that you agreed on. You are a bride – don’t settle for a dress you don’t love. Make sure you look around, even if you don’t feel like it right now.

Best of luck, keep us posted!

That is terrible service. At this point, though, just try to focus on the dress and not the mistakes of the salon. Hopefully this shop has enough options so you’ll find something you love even more, then you can focus on it and forget about this mess.

@Irish2014:  I’m really surprised by that. Did you sign a contract with them? If so, did it have the specific details in it about the style and size of your dress etc?

I’m from NZ so things might work a bit differently here, but if a shop does not fulfill their side of a contract, it would seem to me that you are 100% entitled to a full refund. Any deposit you paid was for a specific dress, which they did not (and cannot) deliver to you. I know your original post wasn’t about this aspect of the process, so sorry if I’m bugging you about it unecessarily, but if the store doesn’t end up having anything else that you like then I would strongly encourage you to find out what your legal options are before being bullied into anything!

Fingers crossed that you can find something else there though, as that would make things much nicer and easier 🙂

Oh no! 🙁

I am a plus size bride that took a scary step of ordering a Justin Alexander gown from a photo. Bridal salon thought I was crazy initially, but turns out it was perfect for me. Have you looked at the JA site for dresses that have similar elements to what you loved most about your dress? There are quite a few that have the cummerbund styling and also are alabaster.

@Irish2014:  I’m a plus sized bride and I went with Maggie Sottero. All her dresses made me feel beautiful and they fit more true to street size than other dresses I tried!

I’m so so so sorry about your dress buying expeience. Please don’t give up on finding your perfect gown! Everything happens for a reason, you’ll find something even better.

That’s wonderful! It’s great that you didn’t give up, because that dress is gorgeous and looks beautiful on you! I especially love the sleeves.

Definitely keep after the other store about your refund. They can’t just keep your money when they failed to deliver the product, that’s such an unprincipled swindle! Honestly I doubt that it’s legal.

@Irish2014:  It’s stunning! The whole thing is gorgeous, but the way the skirt falls is particularly beautiful. So glad you found it! Good luck getting things tidied up with the original store 🙂
