I was leaving a store tonight and while I was backing up, I accidentally backed into a light pole. It did no damage to the car or light pole, only a few flecks of paint from the light pole base were on the bumper of the car and they just flaked off. It wasn’t even worth reporting it to the person who owns the store.
I am very concerned however because I am 15 weeks pregnant. If I wasn’t pregnant, I wouldn’t have thought anything of this. My paranoia is added to when I looked it up online and says that you should always be checked no matter how minor the accident. I feel stupid going to the ER for pregnancy brain. My Darling Husband and Mom think it’s fine, but I can’t help but be worried.

Did you get jerked? It doesn’t sound like you got whiplash. When is your next OB appointment? I don’t know, but I know how you feel- I put some Mentholatum under my nose the other night then freaked out and washed if off. I hate worrying!!

Can you call your doctor and see what he/she recommends? Were you jarred around at all in the car? I backed into a pole once and my seat belt tightened on me, and I got a bruise across my chest from the impact. If I had been pregnant at the time, I would have gotten checked out for that. But if your accident was barely noticeable then maybe your doc won’t think it’s worth the trip.

It happened so fast that I’m not even sure what happened. I don’t think the impact was any worse than having to slam on the brakes and having your seatbelt tighten. My next OB appointment is Wednesday.

I got rear ended at 40mph when I was 12 weeks pregnant. I got checked out right away because it was such a nasty hit, but baby was fine and the OB said at that point the baby is still so small and so well protected that the hit didn’t do anything. If you have bruising around your abdomen then go right away, otherwise maybe just give the nurse a call.

LOL, called the office, they put me in touch with my Dr….he was very reassuring, but I’m sure he thought I was a crazy pregnant lady…
which I am.
I feel much better just being reassured…thanks for all your replies.

If there is an urgent care near by, perhaps try there. Everything is probably fine, but it will give you peace of mind without the hassle of the ER.

I was in a wreck while pregnant as well and I was so worried! My doc said the same thing about the baby being very well protected at that early stage.
