cynbarr:  mine wasn’t full on backless, but kind of a mix…. My seamstress had one hell of a time getting the sheer fabric to line up the way I wanted with my shoulders and the V-back because everytime she adjusted it the armholes became crazy tight- like can’t lift my arms over my chest tight… I did make sure to invest in some tube/bandeau tops (ones that are easy to put on/take off) months before the wedding so I could sun without lines (but I am like transparent white & still had tan lines from 2 yrs ago before that)… I wouldn’t even bother trying to find a bra of any sort I just ended up with built-in cups and it worked out great!

My dress was quite low backed. I had cups sewn in (tried a sticky on bra, that was no good). I’m a 10D/12C in the bust so I have decent size boobs and the cups were enough to give me the proper support (and with alterations to the dress to make sure it was tight enough on me.

I also have a backless dress! Are any of you wearing shapewear? I would love something to slim my tummy, but I can’t find anything that won’t show. I’m not the most well-endowed, so I just plan to sew in cups. Excuse the poor quality picture, this is the best I have that shows off the back. Also, the straps will still need to be altered.

This is my dress. Of course it doesn’t fit right because this was when I first tried it on and the sample size was way too small. It’s Brandy by Maggie Sottero

Having the cups sewn in should work perfectly if done correctly. I’ve had cupa sewn onto every special dress I’ve worn and thet turned out to be totally worth it. Also, the double sided tape can be used too ease your mind a bit.

Mine is backless (but has straps) – sewing cups in made me feel 100% more secure about not falling out the side or whatever.

cynbarr:  If you are concerned about boobage, def go with built-in cups BECAUSE I find the double sided fashion tape (I use the stuff made by Brazabra) leaves chemical burns/irritations on my skin. I guess I’d just recommend using less tape and more dress structure. Otherwise, you might end up with big red welts after wearing it for 8+ hours.

Mine is backless (MS Bernadette) but I have zero boobs. Tan lines and that above the hip fat are my biggest concerns but I’m working on it.

cynbarr:  Ooooh. Yes. I totally get it. You mean how you can fit an extra fist in your cup when you raise your arms? I’m right there with you. Never even thought of that. Good Lord! I too may have to look into cups and cutlets and tape… Oh my.

cynbarr:  I would get some of the VS nipple sticky cover things… I mean you don’t wanna pop out your top obviously, but if you do at least your nips would be covered!

I’m a 34A (but really should be smaller, they just don’t make nice bras that size in my price range) and felt the sewed in cups worked really well for me. Just make sure your seamstress tries out a few different styles & placements. My seamstress original choice of style & placement wasn’t working for so we changed it up, tried a different brand of cup and tweaked the placement and it was lightyears better… The cutlet might work too in filling that lift gap us small ladies have!
