@axeyourmakeupkit:  I am a plus size bride (24-26) and i plan on getting a strapless dress. I am not thrilled with my body by any means but i do not want to wear a dress that i dont find beautiful just because i feel like i need to cover up. I am really concerned about the back fat :/ I do not have any pics yet but right along with you, i would like to see some pics as well!

I’m around a size 14/16 and my dress is strapless. The back of my dress is currently a zipper back and straight acoss which amplifies the dreaded back fat. I’m planning to switch the back of my dress to a corset(enhance my shape more and better support the girls) and then have the top couple loops removed to make it a lower V back. Will show a lot more of my back and not make back fat so obvious ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry that was some slightly off topic rambling. The point is I will have a lower back on my dress and I am plus sized ๐Ÿ™‚

Heres the link to my planned alterations incase it helps other curvy girls with dress options.

I am a size 16 and the back was low-ish (V shape). I had a bit of back fat but was also really bloated on the day. Personally, I would never go backless because I know I have rolls back there & I’d be sooo paranoid & uncomfortable.

I personally think backless is beautiful. I am not wearing a backless, I’m wearing a halter. But I did try on a few and while they looked nice on the hanger there were some issues and worries:

1) what the heck do you do about a bra? I know my chest is far too big for any shelf bra/cups they sew into the dress. While this may be good not to “show through”, I cannot imagine provides much support. And If there is any day I want to look perky Embarassed it would be my wedding day.

2) I know that I will be wearing shapewear. (The kind that goes from the knee all the way up to the bra ling in the back.)  I don’t know how I would manage that with a backless dress. If you aren’t doing shapewear, then obviously this isn’t a worry.

3) I wonder how a backless dress would look in a sitting position on a plus size bride? Would it look like my back fat busted through and tore the dress open?

All this said, I carry a lot of weight in my middle. The corset dress I chose pulls me in and hides it well. I think that if a person is a pear shape, they would be able to putt off a backless dress better than someone like myself. In fact, it would highlight their slimmer shoulders/back/waist.

Bumping, because I have a low back dress and I am wondering what to do about the bra issue (F cup).  Any ideas?

You can have the back of the corset raised if you are worried about the bra or not feeling comfortable. It is also a possibility if they can sew in cups so do have to worry about a bra. Ask if they can accomodate your request.
