They could have ordered the item before it was listed as backordered. Or maybe they had it sent to themselves? I know there are still hold outs who bring gifts to the wedding. In that case, it could be weird if you send a thank you, before they've given it to you!
When someone orders a backordered registry gift at Macy's, Macys will send you an email saying "XXX gift" has been purchased for you by "XXX" and the expected ship date. That way you can send a thank you.
Also, you can check the "registry manager" on Macys.com to see who purchased anything that is listed as fulfilled, but you may ruin a surprise that way!
Thanks...I didn't know you could do that. It'll be quite handy after the gifts really start rolling in I imagine :)

I've noticed that a few items on our registry are back-ordered...and that some are already listed as fulfilled. Anyone know if there's a way to find out from Macy's who sent them so we can send thank yous? Or what's the etiquette on that?
I'm trying to keep on top of thank yous as gifts come in...both to be polite and to help our post-wedding sanity.
