I’ve been having lower back pain mostly. Have your boobs grown a lot? I have always had big boobs, so I’m used to the upper back pain that comes along with them.

Yep, me! I went to the physio the other day to sort it out, and she said that it can be caused by over-stretching the muscles (due to all the relaxin–apparently my double jointed-ness means I’m super, super flexible now) and by ‘rib flare’ which you can get if a baby is under there. Exacerbators include carrying a heavy handbag (guilty!), crossing legs when sitting, bad shoes, and having generally poor posture to compensate for the bump and boobs (especially if you’re carrying in front).

She gave me some useful exercises to avoid it hurting, which so far seem to be working (1 day in…). I’m supposed to sit and stand with get my shoulder blades closer together, and she recommended not ever sitting for more than half an hour at a time. For sleep, she said to get pillows to prop up my outer arm and also prop up my outer leg, which should keep my spine better-aligned. She also recommended using rolled-up towels either vertically (running down the spine to force your back to fold in on itself a bit)  or horizontally (a thicker towel ‘log’ that you should put under the small of your back t). She also gave me a belly band for support and told me to buy a hot pack and a bouncy ball to sit on instead of our squishy sofa. We’ll see how it all goes!

@Monny:  I’ve been doing the exact same thing with the floor! She did also chastise me for that, though, and said it could potentially make it worse in the long run. 🙁 If you’re in your chair at work, try relaxing back with good pillow support and putting your arms both over the back of it (while still facing forward)… That’s supposed to work.
