2 months out from our big day and my back has suddenly broken out.
Super gross, super sore and not going to look good with my strapless dress!
My diet/body wash/laudry powder etc hasn’t changed and I’m not on any medication. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Advice?

I had the same problem a few months before my wedding. I wish I had found the cure sooner, because I tried all kinds of things: apple cider vinegar, showering twice every day and applying benzoyl peroxide after, and even tanning which I am SO against.
Anyway, what finally worked for me was taking sea salt baths every night for about 20-30 minutes. I’d put enough sea salt in for it to taste very salty. The forum I found this on suggested to make it as salty as the ocean, but I didn’t find that to be necessary. Every morning I showered and used the Neutrogena Body Clear body wash, then at night I’d take my bath and sometimes I’d take a quick shower after and use the body wash again. Once I started seeing a difference (a week or two maybe?), I started cutting down to every other night and then a couple of times a week. It worked miracles for me!
Good luck to you, I know how frustrating and awful this is, especially right before your wedding!

Taking zinc and not eating chocolate has worked for me. I ate brownies two days ago and I’m breaking out again 🙁 But before that, my skin was really clear.

I second the neutrogena body clear body wash! A couple of years ago I had a bad breakout on my back and after using it for a month or so I didn’t even have one blemish.

Is it maybe due to the sun/heat? My back sometimes gets a bit irritated and breaks out a bit when its hot in the summer and I have a t-shirt on, so its rubbing against a sweaty shirt all day long! Usually it clears up within a week or two if I stick to camisoles/light shirts with an open back so it can breath all day long, and I apply a moisturizer called embryolisse in the mornings/evenings to help acne and irritation go away, along with a topical acne cream ( I use clean and clear maximum strength persa-gel 10). If it’s really sore you can try an antibiotic cream meant for cuts/scrapes/burns. Good luck!

@lilac_glamour: +1 so many of my friends swear by this stuff in the summer!

I use the combo of Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub and Body Spray. Works like magic to keep my chest and back clear.

@Giraffes: I’m in Aus and its winter here so heat definitely isn’t an issue 🙂
Thank you everyone for the advice.. I’ll go and buy some of that body wash today!

@MrsMagillToBe: Have you changed birth control methods recently? I switched to the Mirena last year and while having no periods was awesome, my skin hated it. I got rid of it!

I agree with the neutrogena body wash..it’ll take awhile to work…but totally worth it. Target also has a generic version of the grapefruit scrub acne body wash. i use it and my back is pretty clear. also a tip…if u use hair conditioner….use it before u wash your back…use conditioner after is bad. hair conditioner contains emolients that r good for moisturising your hair…but clog pores. do u use body lotion? That will also cause breakouts. i can’t use body lotion on my chest..back or face cuz i get volcano…explosive white head breakouts.

Use Neutrogena body wash and get one of those exfoliating towels for the shower. Run the towel back and fourth on your back to really clean the dirt. It’s a long towel like loofah. Helped me when I was going through bacne issues.

Oh! And wash your body last; wash your hair first. Unless you are using Head and Shoulders. Dandruff shampoos generally have skin clearing properties, even for acne.

Witch. Hazel. Get your FI to apply it twice a day. I SWEAR by it. It’s the only thing that keeps my face (and back in the summer!) clear. I don’t use anything else.

I’ve used Acne.org’s AHA+ on my back after showering and it works pretty well!
