Are you close to a college with a music program?  You can contact the music program and ask to speak to a piano or organ teacher and they can sometimes recommend outstanding students.  Or, if you’re not close to somewhere like that, regular school music teachers usually have names of accompianists their students use (or a choir director may freelance).  The bonus to hiring students is that they usually come pretty cheaply (though you’ll need to be very specific about what you want- especially if they’ve not played many weddings before).  I am a professional flutist, and that’s how I started out- people would contact my band director, who would ask me to play at gatherings around town and weddings.  Music teachers are generally your “in” to other music professionals around town 🙂

I know every church is different, but if you don’t already have a personal connection witih that pianist, most are accomodating of using your own musician.  good luck!
