So, the other night I had a horrible, horrible nightmare. I dreamed I came home after work and DH had hung himself! It was so bizzare, freaky, and I have NO idea where it came from. In the dream, there were multiples of him. He was in every room of our apartment hanging…. ugh… it makes me shudder just thinking about it. I have maybe had 1-2 nightmares in my life, so it was just very odd and disturbing.
I woke up sweating and screaming and about scared DH half to death (who doesn’t do well when woken up suddenly anyways). I just held onto him for the rest of the night and didn’t go back to sleep at all….he really didn’t remember it in the morning, surprisingly. 🙂
This was last week and I still can’t forget it. I think a lot of it has to do me stressing out with DH joining the Navy and we’ve been talking more about it and different decisions we need to make. He’ll be leaving for training in July, and while I’m not worried about him being in any physical danger for awhile, I am terrified to live alone. I can deal with him being away, but I am so scared of living by myself…. I don’t know if that’s what triggered it or what, but that’s the only thing I can think of.
Sooo… anyway… I just needed to tell someone besides DH. It really upset me. Anyone else have similar experiences??

That’s scary! I have never dreamed anything like that. I wonder if it has some type of deeper meaning.

Ah that is scary!! Ive never dreamed like that either, but I bet it is due to stress and everything else that is going on!

Ugh, nightmares are the worst. I used to have nightmares about my brother being hit by a train. Always very graphic and it seems like it took forever to wake up fully.
I think the overall theme of dreams like this is loss, or fear of it. It’s a fear of someone leaving you, and also a feeling of helplessness. It’s hard to comprehend how our subconscious works!

@KatyElle: hmm… the helplessness part makes sense! I hadn’t thought of that. I honestly don’t know if I believe that dreams predict the future, but I think they definitely tell you what is really going on in your subconscious.
Bad dreams about loved ones are terrible…

I had a similar dream about my parents! I was staying in a room with my sister in the dream and looked out the window to see them hanging from a tree. It takes a while to get over really disturbing dreams like that, but I strongly believe they are usually brough about by stress.

Wow…that is really scary. Several years ago when I was still with an ex boyfriend I had multiple dreams where I saw him shoot himself. Those dreams were at least five years ago and I still remember them vividly and shudder to think of them.
Hopefully you can get your nightmare out of your thoughts!
