So here is my problem. Im getting married in the carribean this winter (January), and we are going to have a get together when we get back for the friends and family that couldnt make it. Were not having a dinner. Just drinking, dancing and good times! BUT….we live in canada…and its freaking cold here in january. And I HATE Cold!! So I wanted to rent a tent and have a bon-fire and dancing and pie at my families cottage the following may/june. This is where it gets sticky….my Fiance thinks that by the time we are able to have my dream party (early summer/late fall) it will be too late to celebrate. He thinks that its too far away from our wedding date and an inconvience to the guests.
What do I dooo!!!!? I suck at this planning and etiquette and stuff!

Hmmm, maybe both? Celebrate right away with the closest friends and family and have a big bash in the summer?

Maybe there is a hall you can rent out for cheap near by? That way in a be indoors and you can have the big party right away.

After the Destination wedding pick your ideal date for your at home reception and then send out save the date cards, that way it’s the same as a wedding reception but you will need to include the info about just cocktail style. ex. sorry you could make it to the wedding but come celebrate our marriage at our reception…. ( along those lines, I’m sure you can make it sound alot nicer) that way its an invite, but also less formal than an “invitation” if that makes sense, good luck!
