So im getting married in the carribean this winter (January) and I really want to have a get together when we get back to celebrate with my friends and family unable to attend our ACTUAL wedding. I just wanted to rent a tent and have a huge party. Hire a bartender and dance the night away. No meal. Just dancing and good times. Anways heres my problem….we live in canada and I want to rent a tent and do it in may/june at our friends cottage when the weather is nice…but my Fiance thinks its too far away from our actual wedding. So he wants to rent a hall. and do it as soon as we get back.
What should I dooooo? AhhHhhhhh! Help me, please.

Honestly, I thought about a similar thing for my destination wedding. I kind of agree with your fiance. HOWEVER, you can still get a tent over maybe a patio or deck area at the cottage (I don’t know exactly how north you are) and rent heaters. Where I work we have these and use them even when it is snowing outside. This is an idea to suffice you both. OR you can just celebrate a 6 month anniversary (different but not a bad idea). Hope this helps!

I have to agree with your Fiance also. If the party is that far away from your wedding, it isn’t really a wedding reception anymore. Your family and friends will want to celebrate with you right away.

Pitch a tent inside a hall 🙂
You can also get heating for tents.

@nibbler: I kind of agree that it needs to be close to when you get home from your wedding. I actually kind of dislike the whole concept of an at home reception but I’d be even more irritated by one that was significantly after the original wedding, so i think i agree with your fiancé.
