I've been to both Bermuda and Bahamas and my vote goes to Bermuda. It's gorgeous, people are super friendly and it's not as contrived as Bahamas. I mean don't get me wrong, Bahamas are amazing as well but the feeling in Bermuda is just more.....organic/real. Plus they have amazing scuba/snorkling at all those sunken ship sights. I went there in August and the weather was perfect. Not sure what the weather in Bahamas is like that time of year as I have only been in late spring/early summer.
I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter where you go.
hehe..two different opinions! (:
Thanks! dunno what I am going to do yet...
I know you posted this a week ago, and I'm not sure if you've decided, but my vote is for Bermuda - depending on the island in the Bahamas you go to. If you're going to one of the out-islands, then it's a toss up. Bermuda is LOVELY. Like Meowkers said, it's not contrived or touristy like the main Bahama islands. There's so much culture and history, with beautiful water for boating, snorkeling and diving. As a Canadian, the trip will be much shorter for you to Bermuda. If you're thinking of exploring one of the Bahamian out-islands, not Great Bahama or Nassau, I'd say that's a great option as well!
I vote Europe. I feel like all tropical destinations are basically the same.
Omg, I feel the need to comment on this if you have not yet decided. I went to Bermuda a few years ago and left the island totally blown away. It is the most romantic and initmate islad you can go to. It is small and historical and private, while the people are so incredibly friendly and hospitible. Horseshoe Bay, the historical forts and the main City of Hamilton (i think) are all so different and authentic to what a Honeymoon should be. You get the best of both-- beautiful beaches, snorkeling, relaxation, mixed with all the cool oppertunities to explore and venture out without fear of crime or poverty. It is AMAZING. And if you are looking for one of the most incredible and afforable places to stay I highly recommend Pompano Beach Club, it is situated on a sandbar so you can walk or snorkel out like 3 football field legnths and still stand! The water is calm and crystal blue there as well. and dont even get me started on the gourmet food. Totally blows the "high" end places like Elbow beach club out of the water. Its quiet and romantic without feeling like you are at a resort.
haha I think i now want to change my plans to go back to bermuda!
Thanks for the comments! We still haven't decided. One of the main places we wanted to visit in Europe is Greece, but because of the political climate and riots and whatnot, we are not sure if this summer will be a good time to go..
If we do a tropical destination, I think I am leaning towards Bermuda based on the comments here!

Hi!
Fiancé and I were originally going to go to Europe, but we have a WestJet credit to use up, which would essentially cover our flight to either Bermuda or the Bahamas (seat sale ends tonight though!). Our wedding is August 22nd, and we would like to go for two weeks.
We haven't been to either place. I am also not sure what's better - Europe or a tropical destination...Europe is obviously amazing but would be really expensive and also the whole volcano thing is worrying me.
So..has any of you been to Bermuda or the Bahamas? any tips or warnings? Is August/September a good time to go?
Off to research more...
