My BF and I went looking eariler this year. At the time they weren't closing, now that they are he is going back this weekend. Hopefully he "puts a ring on it". lol
When Whitehall closed, DH and I went in to get a great deal on our wedding bands. 70% off! We better never lose them, because it will be a loooooong time before we can afford to replace either one!
OMG the FI has his e-ring from the ex and we were going to upgrade it for an aniversary present years from now. Guess we need to look into that. Thanks for the post!
M and I actually got into an argument about this... he doesn't see the point in going to look because he wants to put all of the money he has now into our vehicles etc, which is completely understandable since we need new ones, however, if he can get a ring for 200, what's 200?! it ended with me going to our room like a 7 year old and putting my head in the pillow so he couldn't hear me sobbing... he came to check on me a few times and i pretended to be sleeping. sigh..... it looks like it'll be a tough weekend.
aawww crebre80, thats not cool!! Have you guys talked about setting a timeline? I was just wondering, if you posted it somewhere, I missed it, sorry!
@jingle: lol yeah we have a timeline, i'm thinking it will happen late next year, however i am not one to pass up a good deal. he says it's just women, and he doesn't want me to go to the store because if it's too good of a deal i will buy it and he knows it, because hey a good deal is a good deal. i don't know if he thinks it will happen sooner or not, we have a lot of things going on financially now and i know this, i am just REALLY not one to pass up a good deal. and i bet he REALLY doesn't want me to fall in love with a ring that he won't be able to purchase for me because it will break my heart...
@crebre: Just stay away! I knew they were closing because I went almost a month ago in NJ and a lot was already gone, so everything was picked over. So I don't think you're missing out on anything! Besides, you don't want to settle...just because you got a deal right?!
I honestly want an aquamarine with a halo setting, i'm pretty sure it's not extremely expensive anyway lol.... i didn't realize they were going out of business, it was no where here, i just so happened to look because i was going to show m the vera wang candy aquamarine right (cushion stone and it's his favorite cut too, now how crazy is that?!) he was so funny today because that's my dream stone (i waiver between cushion asscher and emerald), and i told him that it was a very expensive cut, he was amused, but in an aquamarine it's kind of a moot point... but seriously it's not even close to me, we'd have to specifically make a trip to go there.
wait i didn't respond exactly correctly in the previous post... because he thinks it will break my heart. i fall in love with rings every day lol! they are all the same style and are starting to look alike. the tiffany legacy still has the same appeal, but others like a lot like it as well, so i'm not sure lol... glad he's choosing because i dunno what i want.

Sigh. I saw that at Lenox mall while I was home and it took everything I had to not go in. Such a bummer that they're closing cause I really liked them!
They aren't closing, they are changing owner(ship?). But yeah, it's a good place to look if you want. The guy who helped us was RUDE so I don't give a darn how pretty their rings are! Hmph...

I'm so glad you posted this, I will be driving by a store tomorrow. Sadly, FI won't be with me. That means I would have to buy my own wedding band. But like you said, a deal is a deal.

@firemanslady: i think it says they are closing on their website... but I could probably deal with a rude salesperson for a great deal... but if they were uber rude... i'd probably say oh wow now i understand why y'all are closing, poor customer service.
I told my BF and he was not feeling that sale either. He said he already has my ring and now it isn't good enough? I just thought it might spark a proposal so we can get discounted wedding bands before they close!! Here's to hoping!
Hmm. When I went to our local one on Sunday, there were discount signs, but I don't think they were significant--most things were 30% off and some of the merchandise was marked that it was from some where else.
I went to the one that was in Costa Mesa, CA yesterday (November 4, 2009) and it was already closed for good. So sad. I was so looking forward to looking at the discounted pretties. Sigh.
Me and my boyfriend went to the Bailey Banks and Biddles (Perimeter Mall-Atlanta, GA) store on Saturday and they had a great selection. I did find a few nice settings and the sales lady was extremely nice. Most of the selection was 40%-60% off and I assume that as it gets closer to Christmas Eve (Closing Date) the percentage will drop lower.
Pesronally I didn't think the sales were that significant. It seems as if they jacked the prices up to make the consumer think that are getting a deal by plastering signs up everywhere: great marketing tactic!
Definitely a great marketing tactic... how did the shopping go other than that?
BBB is in bankruptcy and liquidating - the family bought out the name, so you will likely see other BBB stores in the future, but liquidators are in control of the going out of business sales and the corporation's assets.
