    Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there was a reasonably priced bakery in the Chicago area?

For 200 people, I didn't want to spend anymore than $600 if possible

(I can do a small cake and then have sheet cakes for the rest)

    I can recommend two:

Vanille Patisserie does contemporary designs at quite reasonable prices. Her flavors are very unique and to die for! The cakes are super moist and delicious. She is very relaxed yet professional, and very responsible. She did our wedding cake and it was wonderful!

For an even lower price check out Cafe Selmarie. The pastry chef there does traditional European cakes that taste wonderful and look lovely. The prices are extremely affordable, especially considering how nice the cakes are. She just does more classic designs rather than modern. I'm certain they are within your budget.

Best of luck and enjoy your tastings!

Oh, I almost forgot another good one - Sweet Honeybee Bakery on Montrose. They do really lovely cakes that taste like homemade only better. They do standard flavors but they taste awesome. Their prices are really very reasonable. They also do really amazing cakes for bridal showers and groom's cakes etc. They made a cake that looked like me in my wedding dress for my shower, and made a sailboat cake for my groom's cake.

My daughter decided to do cupcakes instead.  They used Chicago Cupcakes.  You can go to pictage.com search Hamblen Blodgett wedding to see pictures of it--they did an amazing job.  The event key is laura.

We used Oakmill Bakery. I really didn't shop around much but they seem reasonably priced and it tasted good!  Also try Deerfield baker, I've heard great things about them too.

I think I'm going to do cupcakes (Molly's Cupcakes). Plus their shop is sooo very cute. Hopefully I don't gain a million pounds by sampling since I still have to find a gown!!

If I don't do cupcakes, I may use Cafe Selmarie. I went to a co-worker's wedding recently and they used Cafe Selmarie. It was beautiful and it actually tasted good (sometimes you get one or the other). The bride spent a ton on her gown and trimmed other costs. Happy hunting!
