I just got this dress from DB.  Original price was $1100.  They had a $50 off special, then 10% off that for applying for a DB card, then another $50 for making a second appt with them to re-try the dress.

If I’m doing the math right, before taxes, the dress came to $895. I also bought a petticoat there, making the final cost with taxes to be $1k.  This is before alterations, and not including accessories.

So that comes right up to your budget, but something to consider.

See if you can buy a sample dress or something off the rack.  I also went to a trunk show in my area, and they had some really great deals as well.

My dress is Sincerity 3701 it’s an offshoot line of Justin Alexander and it cost around $800. I tried on some Allure gowns in that same range and some Mori Lee. I think there may be some Maggie Sotteros around there too. This website is helpful because it actually lists prices.

my dress was from jaqueline exclusive it was $950 if there are smaller shops around where you live id suggest trying there before the bigger stores, i got mine for a great price no taxes charged, free alterations and a free veil as a promotion at a smaller shop in town. And the service was much better which was a plus =D Good luck!

@Eckle:  Every time I see your dress I wish I had gone to try it on (closest shop to me that carries Sincerity is at least an hour away).  I love the dress I picked, but yours is so beautiful, too!

My dress is a Mori Lee and it was quite a bit under $1000. I tried it on before knowing how much it cost and knew it was the one instantly – I was in love! Then I saw the price tag and was even more blown away. So affordable!

Allure isn’t too bad price wise, but maybe not under $1000. You could also find a sample gown if you fit the usual sizes.

@DomesticDiva: I’m not sure where is Wisconsin you are, but I got my dress in Stillwater MN about 300 yards from the Wisconsin border. The shop I got it at doesn’t show up on the Sincerity site’s search for some reason. Your dress is awesome, don’t doubt it! I love the color and the lace of yours.

@Eckle:  Aww, thanks.  That’s sweet of you.  I’m in Madison.  I don’t really doubt my dress, as I am too frugal and practical to actually give in to dress regret, which is so well practiced around these parts, but I do kinda wish I had at least tried yours on.  😉

I would DEFINITELY check out samples! I wanted a HUGE ballgown, and generally found they were priced from 1200 to 2k. But the samples were like $250-600!

@DomesticDiva:  I want to try it on again too. I’ve had my actual dress on for about 5 minutes and now it’s hanging in my closet. I can’t get into it by myself, I don’t have any close girlfriends, no family in the area, and FI doesn’t want to see me in the dress before the day Cry
