We are actually doing both. Live band for the reception/dinner time and then a DJ for the after party. I prefer bands for the reception time because it seems that people enjoy live music better and are more likely to get up and interact. I could be wrong just what I think!Laughing

I went back and forth on this too and honestly, I think either option can be great, provided you feel comfortable working with either the band member or the DJ...DJ's cost a lot less, usually, but if you have the budget for it, I think live music is so fun! We were originally going to use a DJ but FIL's offered to cover the extra expense for the band so now we're having this awesome cover band that we've seen play a few times who rock!

We're doing a DJ. I've asked so many people about what to do because I always thought that a live band would be great, but they said the regretted it after the day was over. It's the same price, or roughly about, and they play only one kind of music instead of a DJ that can play country, rap, rock, hip hop, jazz, oldies, and whatever else ya want! To us it seemed more logically and worth the money for the DJ.

I am going with a live band. Every wedding that I have gone to that had one had a lot more dancers on the floor. I will say though to do your research, and be sure to see them live before you sign a contract. We saw our band live, and were very impressed.

I think, if you can afford it, a live band is always the way to go!! Who doesn't enjoy live music?
