So my Fiance really wants a band. This has been a point of contention I have had to concede on (have to be fair…grrr). My issue is that a band presents more possibility for disaster. I’ve heard horror stories about crappy bands and nobody dancing and I absolutely can’t have that. So, if anyone can recommend a band they know is great that is either located in Connecticut or in New York and willing to travel to CT, I’d appreciate any recs. The Fiance is supposed to be taking care of it but he’s kind of not really done anything so I figure I’d turn to the hive for a strating point and then just give him a list.
A call for help, ladies, to make sure I can boogie down at the reception.

Straight up old school Motown. People will have to wear sneakers they will be dancing so much.
They are not a wedding band. They play a lot at clubs and bars (people go out of their way to see them play) but you can book them for private parties. Pretty much as good as it gets for a wedding band.

We’re using The Characters, they are a cover band who we found at a bar/lounge we frequent fairly often…After hearing them play twice and dancing our butts off both times, we got their card and they’re now booked for our wedding…Their website is http://www.thecharacters.net and they play every other Saturday night at Sessions 73, so you could go and check them out if you want…They’re a little more casual than most wedding bands, which is what we’re going for since our wedding is in a tent in upstate NY…But it might be worth going to see them play if you’re interested!
