I (the bride) am a baptist (as is all of my family), the groom is a methodist, but other than him and his parents the rest of his family are all faithful catholics.  I do not know much about the catholic denomination, and my FI who is a little familiar with it has really been no help at all.  I do know that catholic weddings are alot different than mine and what ours will be.  This will be the first time I am meeting his family (we live in Arkansas and they are from New York) and I do not want to make them uncomfortable or have them dislike me because of our denomination preferences.  I'm the kind of person that to each his own, but I am so terribly worried about how they will view the ceremony since it will be a simple christian ceremony.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Is there anything I could incorporate that would be familiar to them?  My FI and his family were catholics but joined the methodist church and I know his catholic family had issues with that.  I'm just very worried about all of this.  I want to please all my new family and make them happy.

I'm Catholic but I have never thought twice about attending a non-Catholic wedding. It's usually the other way around and people don't want to attend Catholic weddings because they are so long and involved. I highly doubt it will be that big of a deal especially since you and your FI have no ties to the faith. I wouldn't worry yourself about it.

I think as long as the pastor doesn't yell "and let's all hate on Catholics now!" you should be fine :)  His family knows that the groom isn't Catholic so they won't be expecting to see a Catholic ceremony.
