Oh that's just odd! My venue won't allow vendors to drink! In fact, they have it in writing that they will stop someone from doing so if we're paying them for a service and they're taking advantage. Its to protect us. I think you should address that with your vendor. Its not unreasonable to say you're not comfortable with having a photographer, videographer, DJ, whoever drink while on the job. You want the best product and lets face it, alcohol doesn't usually help!

Are you paying bar fees as part of the cost of vendor meals?
At our venue, vendors must eat the same food as the guests due to the small facility and small kitchen being unable to prepare different meals for vendors. When we balked at the cost (50-60% of guest meal charge) we were told the vendor meal included bar charges. Have people had to pay bar charges for vendors? I hate to admit it, but I feel like it's one thing to given them a meal, but to pay for their drinks while I'm paying them to work doesn't seem right. I know it's probably very typical to have the band and other vendors drinking alcohol while they're working, but my desk job skews my view of not mixing alcohol and work. PLus, it made me uncomfortable to think they'll drink enough that I'm going to have to pay for it, as opposed to cheaper non-alcohol beverages that could easily be provided- especially when I'm already paying so much for their service. Have other people had this reaction or similar?
