I haven’t been but we’re wanting to go next year and we’re looking at the Salt Air Inn since we generally like to stay at bed and breakfasts and it looks absolutely beautiful.

We’re going there for part of honeymoon and we’re staying at the Balance Rock Inn. Although we’ve never been there before

We stayed in Bar Harbor for a few nights last summer.  We stayed at the Salt Air Inn one night (definitely a worthy splurge!) and the Black Friar Inn (recommend for a cheap place to stay, but not for a honeymoon). Salt Air Inn is fantastic – the rooms are nice, our bathroom was amazing with this awesome tub, it’s right on the water, breakfast was really great, and the owners were really helpful with tips on what to do/what to see.  If you like the B&B feel, you’ll love the Salt Air Inn.  Plus it’s close to downtown and right near the sand bar to Bar Mt.

@MapleBecky: I’ve never been to the Salt Air Inn (yet) but the bed and breakfasts I’ve stayed at are as private or not as you want them to be.  We generally like privacy but like to interact with the other people staying there at breakfast.  Also, having a nice big homemade breakfast at the start of the day makes the vacation so much more special to me.

@MapleBecky

I would also look @ the Bar Harbor Club and the Bar Harbor Hotel. Not sure when you are going, but I might consider staying in Southwest Harbor @ the Claremont Hotel (beautiful historic property) super quiet and Southwest Harbor doesn’t have the tourist mobs of Bar Harbor.

Happy planning!

I went there for Memorial Day weekend like 2 years ago.  I LOVED it there!  I stayed at Black Friar, it was a new cute B&B, I liked it.  It wasn’t really expensive and the owner and other people were really nice.
