Can anyone recommend a good Bare Minerals eye colour for my wedding day? I have blonde hair and bown eyes and was thinking of a pink or aqua shade? I am fairly new to bare minerals but love the foundation and concealer. I bought one of the Get Started eye kits recently but was disappointed as it came with the shade Winter White and it seems to be so pale that you can hardly see it! And the kit cost me quite a bit. However I did really like the liner shadow so would love to persevere with the brand and find a nice shade for my wedding make up. Not too over the top but I would like people to notice I am actually wearing something and I didn’t get that with the shade that came in the kit. I think I am applying it correctly as I have watched a few tutorials on the internet. So, any colour recommendations? Any tips on applying Bare Minerals eyeshadows? I am in the UK and not sure if colour names differ between Bare Minerals UK and in the States.

Hi! I love their eyeshadows. They are so long lasting! I love going into their boutiques and playing with all of the colors. I have blonde hair, green eyes and fair skin and my favorite combos right now are:
Hyacinth and drama, hyacinth and black pearl, and snowflake and unforgettable (or drama depending on how much drama I want). My favorite liner shadow is patio party. I also love their eye primer, a must own! As far as blues and pinks…unfortuantely I stay away from those colors ( i like a good smoky eye) but I do have a blue color that just pops. Its Azure. I use it mostly as a liner when I want a pop of shocking color. Another really pretty blue I found there was Ell if I know. The pinks are all fairly light.
A few must own though that I love also include bahamas, celestine, desire, and snazzy. Anytime I go anywhere these are the go toos that get thrown in the makeup bag. These are very good basic colors that will get you through just about anything.
Hope this Helps.

@dallasbride2012: Thanks so much. I will certainly look into what you have said, especially your basic must-haves. Are they matte colours? Any advice on applying the BM shadows?

My favorites ones are not matte…they are shimmery (easier to hide flaws), but I don’t feel like they are overtly so. For matte I like devotion (plum) and I recently got a couple of “pearl” ones as a freebie that I like, but I don’t know what colors they are.
A couple things to keep in mind as far as application…
1. The “brighter” the color the sheerer it tends to be (AKA not as scary once you start to get it on). So if you get a color that is like WOW in the pot, try it on…its usually not as bad. They all blend VERY well, but if you want a stronger pop of color, be prepared to use a little more. I layer it on slowly until I get the depth I want.
2. A little bit goes a long way. You will have these pots of eyeshadows FOREVER, they take a long time to get through. A dusting on the lid of the pot should cover both eyes.
3. I use the wet/dry brush for almost everything. Use the “Swirl and Tap” method to get color in the brush, and buff on (small circular motions) your eyelids. If you want a stronger color, either buff on more, or pat on to deepen the color, and add brightener to the corners. The swiping back and forth motion sprays the minerals everywhere.
4. My top brushes for eyes are the wet/dry, the heavenly liner, and the blending. I will put on my all over lid color first with the wet/dry and then buff in my crease my accent color until I like it. Then I will take a very light dusting on the blending brush (can also use the wet/dry) and blend everything together. Lastly I will use the liner brush to pat on my eyeliner, (less messy, and stays on longer.)
It takes practice, especially if you are used to the packed eyeshadows, but once you get the hang of it, it is super easy to and pretty hard to mess up. Also the great thing is it just wipes off with a dry towel if you want to start over. They have a few tutorials on their website, they used to have different looks and how-tos, but I didn’t see them today while I was browsing.
