I’ve had two terrible make up trials and neither used especially good make-up. I have heard alot about Bare Minerals (I’m sure this thread has been done before) and I wondered if any of you used or are using this for your make-up on the big day?
Any pics would be really appreciated and any reviews on it.

I haven’t used it but I found this thread http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/opinions-on-bare-minerals-makeup
They say that in pictures it photographs as a white face and that it really doesn’t give you full coverage. Hope this helps. Sorry I don’t have very good advice.

I use Bridesmaid or Best Man religiously – I just got my e-photos back (I’m pretty pale right now as is), and they turned out great!!! BM gave me a nice glow in ALL of the photos. Not one of them turned out white! I couldn’t be more pleased! 🙂

i didnt use it for my big day – i went to the mac counter and they did an AMAZING job – at least i thought so 🙂
but i use bare minerals for day to day use and i absolutely love it! my favorite is their blush called true.

I have also heard that Bridesmaid or Best Man can show up too light in pictures (I think it’s something about makeup with built-in SPF). I used Bridesmaid or Best Man in a shade darker than my usual color over Dior foundation for my e-pics and they turned out nice, but I’m not taking the risk for my wedding day.
However, I definitely recommend the starter kit for everyday use–the brushes alone are awesome and you get enough foundation to last a while!

i use Bridesmaid or Best Man on a day to day basis, but did liquid foundation for e-pics (w/the Bridesmaid or Best Man bronzer & mineral veil) and will probably do the same for the wedding. i like the security of a heavy duty foundation lol

I use it day to day and really like it, but I’m not sure it would be the right coverage for photos. I think professional makeup photographs differently than everyday makeup, and IMO bare minerals can make you look a little pale/washed out in pictures depending on your coloring. Even with the “warmth” color, I don’t think you’d get that same glow as from professionally applied makeup.
I also feel like it wears off during the day, so if you need blemish coverage, that might be something to consider. When I put it on, it covers blemishes nicely, but after a long day they tend to show through.

@skyeatnight: As has been said already, Bare Minerals is great — I’ve been using it for years — but it IS NOT a good choice for photography makeup. It is very reflective makeup and (as was mentioned before) makes you look really white. So unless you want to look like you just came off the set of Twilight, I’d go with a different makeup for the wedding day. Photo makeup is VERY different than “life” makeup.
I’m having a professional do mine, but I’ve heard/seen great things about MAC…

I LOVE BM! I use it every day. I wore it for my e-pics and they turned out great! I find that I get full coverage and that it looks great in pictures (for me). It feels so light and natural that I forget that I have it on, which is a plus in my book. I won’t be wearing for my wedding, but that’s only because the place I’m getting it done at uses other make-up. Good Luck!

I think the two ingredients in Bridesmaid or Best Man that make it look white in photos is zinc oxide and/or mica. These two ingredients can usually be found in sunscreens.
So Bridesmaid or Best Man or not, any makeup with those ingredients will look white.
I have also heard GREAT things about MAC. Infact, anytime you go to the store, you will find someone getting their makeup done and you can just look at the wonderful job the MAC artists are really capable of!

@kayla1505: I love you pic! I don’t think you look white at all. I have heard that this can happen with photographs but I’ve also read about other people and seen their photographs and they look great. I’ve bought the starter kit now (popped out at lunchtime) and will have a look. To be honest it couldn’t look any worse than the trial make-up I had done.
Can anyone recommend any MAC products? I am quite pale but will have slight tan on for the day. I’m pale and blonde if that helps. Many thanks xx

I loved Rainbow’s post about getting an airburshed look at home. I haven’t tried all her trick’s yet, but the mixing foundation/primer stuff/moisturizer works so much better than foundation alone!

I have to agree with @KitKatNYC I used to be a “Bare” girl but I couldn’t get the lasting converage that I wanted.. It looked and felt great but just didn’t stay.
I read up on the Ace Your Face.. changed the foundation to Smashbox & even my old Cover Girl when my Smashbox ran out and I LOVE it! (I bought the Smashbox Starter… love the primer and the Monistat Chaffing gel in her blog is JUST as great)
I also use the “Bare” warmth for my cheeks (as I didn’t follow her pt 2 because I just didn’t need that much & don’t like my make up taking that long)
Great Coverage and it LASTS!!!! Best example thus far (since I haven’t had my day yet) is Sundays…
I do my make-up about 8 am… go to church, have lunch, take a short nap, do VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENTS at 2 w/ NO TOUCH UP NEEDED.. go back home and take a LONGER nap, and then go to our Young Adult service at 7. I very rarely do any kind of touch up and even through sleep my foundation looks and stays great!

I use BE on the day to day basis, but for anything photo related I use MAC, Mac is essentially a STAGE makeup, If you want to look soft and natural I would go Bridesmaid or Best Man, go with the MATTE vs the ORIGINAL though. If you don’t wear make up often or daily then it would probably be ok with you. I want my eyes to stand out and I want ALL day coverage which is why I will wear MAC for the day of the wedding, I alway wore MAC for my e-pics. I would go to the BE counter and have them show you Bridesmaid or Best Man, I will say after years of MAC it took me a while to convert to BE, I even had a job with them at one time, but turned it down cause I didn’t think I liked the product. It took lots of TUTORIALs and TIPS from BE consultants for me to get my desired everyday look!
