bare walls: rent plants or get lighting?

I am considering renting a community center's facility for our reception and really love the wood floors and the high ceilings and the lighting. I've seen pictures of some receptions there and the walls look pretty bare with people sitting down. You can't really decorate the walls themselves because of facility restrictions. I was thinking about renting trees, but they'd have to be at least 8-10 feet tall. That might be pricey. My FI suggested possibly getting some lighting, which might be more economical, and cover the space better.

Has anyone had to deal with bare walls that they couldn't really decorate?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

I would look into professional lighting and/or pipe and drape. It can transform a room and make a huge difference.

I saw some places that used drapings, liie fabric and then had colored lights on it to accent. The drapings weren't hung on the wall, but connected to the ceiling kinda.

It's like the pipe drape that JCM9608 was talking about

If you can't do draping I think lighting would look the best.  Bonus if it's cheaper than plants because I think it would look better too!

i agree with the lighting. I have seen some really blah rooms transformed into gorgeousness with the right lighting. If you have a symbol, monogram or flower you are using, that can be put on the main wall to make it look really nice and tie together your whole theme.

Definitely lighting. It's a lot less expensive and it'll look stunning. Consider light strands with paper lanterns in your color, and ribbons underneath. It's very affordable and very festive at the same time.
