ok so everyone is always saying how expensive dresses are, but yet every once in a while someone finds an awesome bargain and ends up with a fab dress, so if your dress was 1000 dollars or less, please post and give the rest of us hope that cant get it out of our heads that beautiful dresses are out of our price range
Mine is being made *almost done* and will look similiar to this. The cost will be about $400.

Although it's great to get a good bargain in this day in age....I personally want a super special dress. Not that you can't get one for less then $500, however, if I was walking down the aisle in a dress that my jeans cost more then, I just wouldn't feel right. It is your wedding dress people.....the one dress you can spurlge on. Finding a great deal is awesome, but never compromise your dreams/style.
I just bought this Watters dress at a sample sale for.....$25!!! (no that's not a typo). Mine is in ivory and I'm changing the neckline to a sweetheart and adding an ivory sash. Best deal I've gotten in my life.

@Kitty Kat: I kinda think my dress is super special :) POB is an amazing designer, and this dress had an original price tag of $6950. It's straight off the runway from NY Bridal Fashion Week.
I totally get what you're saying about not compromising, and I was prepared to spend up to $6000 for my wedding dress. However, I got really lucky and found just what I wanted at a bargain-basement price. Yay, more to spend on the open bar! That's what I call a win-win.
Plus, I could never spend that much on jeans. Maybe I'm just a bargain queen at heart but I get my Luckys from the outlet for $30.
I didn't want to spend more than $500, FI said up to $700 if it was a must have. However, although we found several beautiful gowns within our budget, when FI saw this one, it was all over!!! Paid $830 with alterations my dress is ivory with harvest gold train

@zippylef: I would definitely have thought you paid at least double! That was a great choice, and I can't wait to see it "in action" after this weekend! :)
@whiteorchid: Wow, good deal.
I love all this bargin inspiration! You girls give me hope I'm going to be able to find something without breaking the bank.
Each of our dresses was $450. Mine (on the left) was a used David's Bridal 5268. NotFroofy's was a sample Da Vinci.

@Kitty Kat: Honestly, I could not imagine spending $1,000 or more on each of our dresses. My own urge would have been to wear clothes we already owned. However, NotFroofy wanted something that said "wedding" to her. The ones we got made both of us feel good, without putting us in debt. If I'd wanted to splurge on one dress, it would have been a dress that I could wear for more than one day.
I spent around $1,258 for my dress which INCLUDED $300 in accessories (aisle runner, flower girl basket, ring bearer pillow, BM jewelry, etc, etc...) So I consider the price my dress actually at $958 :-]. No tax, so I'm just waiting to do alterations which will be about $200 or so, probably less. I consider it quite a bargain considering the dress retails for $1,568! I saved a 1/3 of my gowns original price just by shopping around and not buying in the first boutique I saw it in, plus its brand spankin' new :-]. Don't be afraid to shop around and even shop online (at reputable shops of course).

@SDBornWed: wow i LOVE your dress!
I got my dress for $800, and I love it! This is me trying it on when I picked it up, pre-alterations. I am going to have it hemmed, bustled, and maybe made into a more pronounced sweetheart. (and also pressed, obv)
@zippylef: (As I've commented before) I LOVE your dress, can't wait to see more pictures of your big day :)

and me!
I LOVE my dress!! I bought it at a sample sale for $561 including tax and I don't need any alterations!

@cleve_girl01: That dress looks AMAZING on you!! Enjoy it
MMine was $650 as a sample! It was originally $3,000. It's a pronovias!

I fell in love with this David's Bridal dress after a friend recommended I look at it, but I refrained from purchasing in-store. That same week, I found the dress NWT and in my size for $100 on Craigslist + free shipping!

@camrie: thats an amazing dress, congrats on the awsome find
