- Wedding: October 2013
Hello everyone! I am in a bit of a pickle. My FI and I are having a very non-traditional wedding. Our actual ceremony is in October and originally I had found this really pretty building that was an old factory to hold it in (it’s private), but I just found out my aunt’s sister has turned a huge milk barn into a reception venue. We moved the ceremony there and the place is beautiful from what I have seen in pictures… also, it’s free! Yay free!
My problem is that when my uncle told me about this place he also told me how he goes to church with a guy that catered his step-son’s wedding and gave him such a good price that he was able to feed 150 guests for around $200. Holy cow, right? The place that I have booked right now is charging me $15 a plate. I have tried emailing them and they will not let me bring my own food. If I have to stay with this place then I will have to be choosing between which friends I can and can’t invite since my family is so large and they almost break my budget alone. I would LOVE to move my reception to the barn…. however, because of family that lives out of the country, I am having my reception on November 2nd. As far as I know the barn only has one open entrance… but I am not sure how to cover it to keep the cold out. Tennessee weather is crazy and we can go from it feeling like a nice spring day to a foot of snow all in one day. Does anyone have any suggestions on heating something like that? Is it impossible? My uncle suggested putting a tarp over the entrance…. is there any way to make it not look tacky? Haha.
Thanks, y’all! Sorry for the novel!
