So fun! My extended family is throwing my fiance and I a softball game-engagement party, and they're also working on baseball related prose for the engagement party invite! (Rather than going to a game, we are splitting up into teams and actually playing. Then we're having a cookout at the park.) I will see if they've come up with anything good and report back! I am excited to see what other bees come up with!
I am currently humming the tune to Take me out to the Ballgame ... these words are cheesey but you might be able to run with the idea ...
Take me out to the wedding.
Take me out to the love.
Please bring some laughter
and dancing shoes.
We don't care if they're old or their new.
For it's root, root, root for Jane & Tim
If they don't wed it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three kisses you're out
At our rehearsal dinner!
Wow -- even cheesier when I typed it up -- if nothing else I just made myself laugh. Good luck! Sorry if I was no help!!!
I threw a Baseball (Red Sox to be exact) engagement party for my sister. Her fiance proposed at Fenway where they had their first date. So I have lots of creative baseball themed ideas if you need any help and I have tons of pictures! I can e-mail you some if you want!
Their invite said:
Here's the pitch, M&J are getting hitched!
Please join us for a rehersal dinner (I changed it to fit hwat you are going for)
We did the baseball ticket idea for my sister. We had a graphic designer do it and it was so cute, but after seeing it, I realized we could have just done it ourselves through Microsoft Word. If you'd liek to see a copy I can send it to you!

Hi ladies,
I'm hoping someone here has some good brainstorming power for me. We're going to include our rehearsal dinner invitation in the main invitation suite since everyone is invited (our guests are 99% out of town). For the rehearsal dinner, we're going to go to the local minor league ballpark and see a game -- built-in entertainment! We're having a catered dinner in a private section of the ballpark first, which will be a little nicer than normal park food -- grilled chicken and pulled pork sandwiches, etc, on top of the regular dogs and burgers.
The invitation design is going to match the rest of the invitation suite, so nothing with baseball bats all over it. I'm trying to come up with RD invitation wording that is a little more playful and less formal than the wedding invitation wording, but without making it sound like an 8-year-old's birthday party. I'm a fan of puns and witty verse, so that's definitely an option. Any ideas?
Thanks!
