    @Katyxa:  I looked at their reviews and their work and their prices.  Then I contacted them if I was happy with each of those.  The biggest thing for me though, was how well I got along with them and how well they communicated.  There’s one photographer that I loved and his price was the best of the bunch, but I just didn’t feel like we clicked, I didn’t want to talk to him (which is really really weird for me).

    I would say all of the above but kind of in this order…

    1. Reviews
    2. Price
    3. Quality of Work (not based on reviews – but on their own examples)

    So, for example two DJs I compared…one had amazing reviews was voted best in the state and cost $200 more than the other DJ I looked at that had good reviews but a few bad ones and refused to meet with us in person — we went with the best reviews, even though they cost more because it wasn’t that much more.

    It was really a balancing act for me between getting quality for a good price.  I read a lot of reviews from various sources, looked at local wedding resources too. Also, word of mouth between vendors factored in a lot too. When I mention our bakery to other vendors they’re so excited about our cake, our reception coordinator got rave reviews from our DJ helps to ask around to see if they’ve worked together before. Like our DJ has worked with almost all our other vendors and had great things to say about them.

    A lot of mine were recommendations.  I was at a wedding in Chicago and Loved the DJ so we booked her for ours, My company Holiday party was at the hotel my wedding is going to take place at, found it and got to see an example of their service at my Holdiay work party, Flowers were a recommendation from a co-woker, I still shopped around and read reviews, but ultimately she was the best so we hired her.  Photographer was found off the, still not sure we made the right decision there, but I’m hoping my photos will be fabulous!
