I don't think anyone will miss out if you don't do it but it's just a nice little touch to add for the guests. You can make them pretty inexpensively by shopping at the dollar store or the toiletry section at a place like Target, that's what I did. My guests LOVED ours, the women ripped theirs apart and used everything! The men really loved theirs, too, but it's funny, they were much more neat with theirs, lol.
I didn't even think of this idea until I read Mrs.Beagle's post, but now I am. I can't tell you how many times I'm dancing at a wedding and wished I had a hairtie or deodorant!

We did! I don't know how they went over--I kept going to the secret bathroom upstairs, which didn't have a basket. D'oh!
I didn't even think of the men's baskets what should those have?
i want to do them! my friend did and i think they were a hit. i guess for the guys...spray deodorant, a comb, and i don't know, they don't need much do they! maybe hairspray?
I would put gum, TUMS (def), mints, maybe a lint roller, small bottle of cologne to keep them smelling good. I don't know what the rules are w/guys deodorants but maybe some deod?
I'm doing one, mostly because I had most of the stuff laying around the house anyways (I use coupons a lot and always stock up when there are sales). So far in mine I have gum, mints, hairspray, tissues, Tide To Go pen for stain removal, headache medicine, clear nail polish, tampons/pads, body spray, bandaids and mini first aid kit. I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head.
If you do a search for emergency kit here, someone made a post with a very extensive list.
Bathroom baskets are on the wiki:

Lots o good ideas!
Plus, I'm putting some meds for GI problems, like pepto and gasx!! I also added some wisps (little tooth brushers/freshners)
I didn't do one. My wedding was at an art museum and I didn't want museum-goers to be taking the items meant for my guests. Plus a lot of people already thought I was going overboard with my wedding. If I had done a bathroom basket they probably would have just called me insane.
We didn't do them. Honestly, it was another little thing that really didn't matter to me and I didn't want to have to stress over. Yes, people might notice the little things but you probably won't. I only went to the bathroom once that night so I wouldn't have been able to enjoy them myself.
Maybe they'll call us insane, or maybe they'll call us a lifesaver when they have B.O, bad breath, or the runs!! Ha! LOL!
Im definitely going to do them for both men and women. Other ideas are tide pens, tampons in your wedding colors (tampax has green and yellow tampons which are my colors!) hand lotion, mini sewing kit, mini first aid kit. I cant wait to put them together!
Those that did them already, what did you put in them and what did your guests like the most...particularly the men?
I'll probably do one because we are having several guests that will be driving a few hours to the wedding and I like the idea of having a few items if they feel they need to freshen up.
I'm not doing them, and I've never been to a wedding that had them. I definitely think they're a nice touch though. I just don't have the time or energy for another DIY project... and it seems like they could be expensive by the time you add up the cost of everything that goes into them.
I am conflicted. On one hand they seem silly and just one more thing to pull together. On the other hand, I like them and think guests might appreciate the items.
I was a at a wedding last summer and there were condoms in the bathroom baskets. I just thought that was a bit strange!
We weren't planning on doing them, but the couple who had their reception at the venue the night before left their baskets there. When we showed up to decorate, there was still plenty of stuff in the baskets, so we just tidied them up and left them there. Easiest thing ever!
The condoms I think are a bit too personal there. It's not a club scene after all. I think I will stick to the basics.
I'm in the process of making mine - just picked up the last basket today (did a quick site visit on Sunday and discovered an extra bathroom for the ladies). Then hit up Target for the travel-sized essentials (deodorant, stain remover wipes, band-aids etc.) I'm also planning to put in mints, tampons/pads & hair spray (for the ladies) and some other misc stuff.
Its totally optional - but definitely factor in the cost, all those cute travel sized items add up! I priced out 2 baskets to be about $110-$150 (depending on what you include of course).
And personally, I know I would be annoyed when inevitably all the cute "reusable" items (stain remover pens, tylenol, medicine, entire box of tampons, the box itself!) are gone at the end of the night. I think one of the bees mentioned that her entire bathroom basket dissappeared midway through her wedding...

Are they absolutely necessary? If you did one, anything creative, responses? If you didn't, did anybody miss it or notice? Still trying to figure out whether to do one or not.
