Battery operated paper lanterns?

posted 2 months ago in Beehive

I'm thinking of hanging white paper lanterns from the roof of my reception tent. However, to avoid having cords criss-crossing, I need the kind that are battery operated. Has anybody used these before? If so, how did they look, and can you recommend a place to get them? We'll have additional can lights along the ceiling's edges as well.

I used to have colored ones hanging from the ceiling of my apartment in college :) I got them at Pier 1. Check their website. Also check out Ikea and Oriental Trading Co.

Good luck!

I found red battery operated lanterns at World Market - 4 for 14.99 (I think) they also had white/cream ones. They are about 10" in diameter and nice quality.

If you get plain paper lanterns, there are these things you can buy at Wal Mart that you just tie inside them- they are supposed to be for inside balloons, but I used them in my lanterns for my wedding. They were 9.99 for a dozen and were in the party section.

Happiest~

I bought the same lanterns and they were either already burned out or burned out after 10 minutes. They weren't worth the money at all. Have you used them already? If not, just a word to the wise.

I'm using the cream paper lanterns that are 3/$9.99 from Walmart at my reception on Saturday.  On a test run so far, they've worked well.  I'll let you know how they worked overall on Sunday!

I got mine from the dollar tree a month or so ago (got the batteries there too, only one night, don't need the "good ones")

They all white so i threw a hot glue gun party and let my friends decorate them with silver sparkley decorations.

I just found a half used box of those lights I used in my lanterns-

if you go to your wal mart and go to customer service, they may be able to order some for you (most grocery stores do it if you have a UPC).

Update from MisstoMrsin42Days:

The 3/$9.99 Walmart paper lanterns worked for the whole reception (4 hours) with no problems.  Good luck!
