It would be nice if we could start vendor lists for local areas. As your Bay Area Hostess, I say, let's get the ball rolling!  Share your vendor names, locations, and their websites.  Feel free to include any details of your experience thus far too. Hopefully it will help gives brides just starting planning (or those looking for that one last vendor) a great place to start!  Just copy and paste this list below and complete (and feel free to add vendors I may have forgotten)...

    • Your wedding date
    • Ceremony venue
    • Officiant
    • Reception venue

I love my dress designer...It's from Atelier des Modistes and designed by Suzanne Hanley.  She's the best!  Unfortunately she doesn't have any photos on her website, but you won't regret taking the time to stop by her shop on Hyde Street in Russian Hill.

Lillindy, Thanks for being the fabulous hostess you are!  I love seeing posts on our local board.  I live in SF and am getting married in Monterey, so there is a combination of vendors from both areas.  The Big Day is in less than two months so we're in countdown mode!

Fizicsgirl, I went into Atelier des Modistes the other day.  My jaw absolutely dropped to the floor.  The dresses are beyond gorgeous, particularly this art deco inspired number used with vintage lace- to die for.  If I didn't already have my dress, I would've snapped it up in a heartbeat.  After I left, I immediately called my tres fashionable, 1930s inspired Maid of Honor and told her that I had found her wedding dress and she would just have to buy it as soon as it was her turn.

Question for you Bay Area brides, can anyone recommend a good place to alter bridesmaid dresses?

I highly recommend my tailor in Fremont...Essy Tailoring.  She is excellent, though not particularly inexpensive.  I guess it depends on how picky you are.

And kristasuzanne, I love that french lace/art deco dress.  It wasn't quite right for my wedding, but I always take a chance to visit it when I go in for fittings.

@GaBGal: I'm sure we could coordinate a meetup if there's interest.  Then, maybe Miss Peeptoe can jump in and help us get the word out on the blog.  Maybe you can start a thread trying to get people who are interested and start talking about a date?

I'd love a Bay Area meetup! I'm only in the beginning stages of my planning, but my venue is Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery in Pleasanton and my dress is Anjolique from Elegant Lace in San Jose.

@ Lillindy - We worked with Ellen at Steve Padis.  She was fantastic!  I didn't want to torture my fiancé with having to go shopping for rings with me, so I picked out the setting, and Ellen worked with him via e-mail and phone calls to help him pick the perfect center stone.  I don't think they usually work with people making such a big purchase without seeing anything in person, but Ellen was very accommodating and even e-mailed my fiancé pictures of different diamonds.

    <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: tahoma, verdana; font-size: 13px">

Hi everyone! I'm new to Wedding Bee and my story is surprisingly similar to the other new SF Bee, EmilyKate, including my name!

My name is Emily and my wedding is about 5 1/2 months away. My family and MOH (my sister) are back on the Easy coast, so I'm planning everything pretty much by myself. This is what I've got so far!
    • Your wedding date: November 7, 2009
    • Ceremony venue: CLIFT Hotel - Spanish Suite (www.clifthotel.com)
    • Officiant: Friend that introduced us
    • Reception venue: CLIFT Hotel
    • Caterer: Asia de Cuba (comes with the hotel)
    • Coordinator: Me!
    • Photographer: F.C. Wong Photography (http://fcwongweddings.com/)
      • Fu has been great so far and he even friended us on Facebook!
    • Videographer: none
    • DJ/Band: Don't have one yet! I need suggestions!!!
    • Florist: Gingerleaf Floral (<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, 'Lucida Grande', 'Bitstream Vera Sans', verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; color: #555555">www.gingerleaffloral.com)
    • Cake: through the CLIFT vendors - we haven't gotten into the gory details yet
    • Dress: Novella Bridal (http://novellabridal.com/) - Jasmine Collection, Style # F-219
      • I go for my first fitting on July 7!!
    • Shoes: Right now, Steve Madden, but I just ordered another pair off flyjane.net, so we'll see which I like more!
    • MOH Dress: Saks Fifth Ave. - I gave her the color and she picked the dress
    • Hair Stylist & MUA: TBD - suggestions please! economy-friendly :)
    • Invitations: As our gift, all of our paper things were designed by the BM, Micah of Kasman/Squillante (www.ksgraphic.com/)
      • Printing done by Classic Letterpress in Oakland
    • Rings: TBD
    • Rehearsal Dinner: Still looking! Since most of our guest of from out-of-town we decided to invite all 60 of them to the rehearsal dinner as well :/  I'm starting to regret it as I'm looking for restaurants within our price range that can fit that many people. Suggestions GREATLY appreciated!

Note that all my vendors are located in Sonoma County unless otherwisestated.

    *        Wedding Date: 04/19/2009 *        Ceremony: http://www.nvoh.org/">Napa Valley OperaHouse *        Officiant: Pastor Marvin Wray, Seventh Day Adventist *        Reception venue: same as ceremony, it was a gorgeous locationbut not originally geared towards weddings so there was a learning curvefor both parties involved. I believe most of the issues have beenresolved and they should be easier to deal with now. *        Caterer: http://www.sallytomatoes.com/>SallyTomatoes, they were the cheapest I could find while still havinggood food. Don't book them if you're a foodie, but I'd recommend the NewYork steak any day. Got rave reviews on the steak. *        Coordinator *        Photographer: I used http://www.ericaberger.info">Erica Berger and I would notrecommend her. Read her reviews on yelp and you'll find it's either ahit or a miss with a lot of her clients. Personally, even though some ofthe pictures were great, I felt it was a big miss. One of the reasons Ibooked her was because she offered a second shooter, while lookingthrough the pictures there is no evidence of any shots that wouldindicate there was another shooter there. IE: the second shootershadowed Erica and took the exact same shots as her, I have Groomsmenconfirming this during the ceremony at least. I'm considering asking forsome of my money back due to this and a few other things. *        DJ/Band: Just Koolen Productions, I'd recommend them especially if you're on a budget, $600 forseven/eight hours including set up, break-down and travel from Antiochto Napa.*        Florist: Sweet Pea's Floral Design, LOVED Karen with Sweet Peas. She wasexcited about working with me and completely got my vision. (707)318-1587. She was the most reasonably priced I could find in theNapa/Sonoma county areas, and still delivered everything I expected. Mycenterpieces were calla-lilies wrapped in grape-vine balls, only $35ea.

    *        Cake: Laura Dean with Cake and Truffle, she was great to workwith and even came to our apartment for the tasting. The cake was yummyand looked amazing! Her English Toffee cake with Peanut-butter fillingand chocolate ganache tastes exactly like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!Phone: (707) 490-7648 Email: cakeandtruffle@gmail.com      Dress: Galleria Bridal, bought a Maggie Sottero sample dress andhad it altered at the shop. Great service and great dress.  *        BM Dress: One of my girls picked her dress at Galleria as well,no complaints.   *        Grooms Ring: Dan Corbin of D.C Jewelry Design (707) 568-6576 inSanta Rosa. Custom designed and fabricated a White Gold wedding bandwith Black Jade in-lay and three diamonds inside the Black Jade. OtherJeweler quoted a similar price but would not have been able to achievethe same design. Dan seemed highly knowledgeable on his chosen field, and was easy to work with. *        Other vendors: 321 Photobooths out of Treasure Island*        My mother in law purchased a Rasberry and an Almond flavoredChampaign, which went really fast. If anyone's interested, I'll findmore out about it, I even loved it and I HATE Champaign.

... sorry about the awful formatting in my above comment. I copy and pasted the text off an e-mail I created while at work and didn't notice the formatting issues when I posted it. Now I can't edit it.

lavenderpug    3/10   NYC/Wedding in Half Moon Bay, CA

hi, just wanted to update my list (i know when i was searching for vendors i was obsessively scouring weddingbee)--hope it is helpful to someone for ideas.

  • Your wedding date--3/20/10
  • Ceremony venue--Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton
  • Officiant--friend
  • Reception venue--Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton
  • Caterer--"
  • Coordinator--thought seriously about A Bride's Best Friend, Little Blue Box Weddings and Sara Gorski and think they would all be great, but from conversations with the Ritz staff I feel like they're going to be taking on enough that it wouldn't be worth it given our budget to hire a DOC
  • Photographer--CK from 29 East photography. Found him on a weddingbee board.  He's really nice and his photojournalistic style captures people at spontaneous, emotional moments that have a very sweet and romantic feel (but not cheezy)
  • Videographer--NA
  • DJ/Band--ipod
  • Florist--Ornamento (considered using La Lavande which also seemed like it would have been a good choice)
  • Cake--because of delivery and overhead costs, I ended up narrowing it down to two small bakeries (one of them doesn't have a storefront and the other works in a coop kitchen) that would do a cake for $5 per slice and without an outrageous delivery fee.  Ended up picking Kelly from Inticing Creations.  Her frostings are awesome and I'm looking forward to tasting the real thing!
  • Dress--Marisa from salon in Virginia
  • Shoes--Tahari Rose in patent leather pink!
  • BM Dress--NA
  • Hair Stylist--Aimee Lam. She's really sweet and talented. I just had my trial with her and she is professional, meticulous, and really nice to be around.
  • MUA--"
  • Invitations--DIY.  Thank you weddingbee for intro'ing me to the obsessive world of gocco.
  • Rings--David Lee Holland in Soho, NYC
  • Other vendors

In case this looks totally weird to you all, it's because my fiance and I are just going to City Hall for a quickie ceremony (fingers crossed that the Rotunda will be available) and then renting out the secret back room at our favorite speakeasy bar for a cocktail reception. Both of us are pretty anti-wedding stuff, so that's why there's no cake/flowers/ dancing/ etc. Just great cocktails with 50 of our closest friends.

I will be wearing white, however, even if it's just going to be a cocktail dress
