It would be nice if we could start vendor lists for local areas. As your Bay Area Hostess, I say, let's get the ball rolling! Share your vendor names, locations, and their websites. Feel free to include any details of your experience thus far too. Hopefully it will help gives brides just starting planning (or those looking for that one last vendor) a great place to start! Just copy and paste this list below and complete (and feel free to add vendors I may have forgotten)...
I love my dress designer...It's from Atelier des Modistes and designed by Suzanne Hanley. She's the best! Unfortunately she doesn't have any photos on her website, but you won't regret taking the time to stop by her shop on Hyde Street in Russian Hill.
1903 Hyde Street
San Francisco
Telephone : 415-775-0545
Lillindy, Thanks for being the fabulous hostess you are! I love seeing posts on our local board. I live in SF and am getting married in Monterey, so there is a combination of vendors from both areas. The Big Day is in less than two months so we're in countdown mode!
Fizicsgirl, I went into Atelier des Modistes the other day. My jaw absolutely dropped to the floor. The dresses are beyond gorgeous, particularly this art deco inspired number used with vintage lace- to die for. If I didn't already have my dress, I would've snapped it up in a heartbeat. After I left, I immediately called my tres fashionable, 1930s inspired Maid of Honor and told her that I had found her wedding dress and she would just have to buy it as soon as it was her turn.
Question for you Bay Area brides, can anyone recommend a good place to alter bridesmaid dresses?

Lillindy -- Do you think we'll be able to coordinate a bee meet up before the summer?
I highly recommend my tailor in Fremont...Essy Tailoring. She is excellent, though not particularly inexpensive. I guess it depends on how picky you are.
And kristasuzanne, I love that french lace/art deco dress. It wasn't quite right for my wedding, but I always take a chance to visit it when I go in for fittings.

Si Arima is a great alterations lady, she does wedding gowns too, and she is really affordable she works out of her house in santa clara, she has reviews on yelp along with her info too. I will do my vendor list soon! I have to get ready for my bachelorette party in SF tonight!!
@Vic004: That would be a great idea for something to add to the list, great places for Bachelorette parties! Have fun at yours, I'm sure it's going to be a blast!
Hey Guys- I'd love to do a Bay Area meet up- I've posted things on the SF/Bay Area boards before and haven't gotten any response- but if you guys want to do one- awesome!!! We'll have to do one soon or when I get back from my honeymoon.;)

I'd love a Bay Area meetup! I'm only in the beginning stages of my planning, but my venue is Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery in Pleasanton and my dress is Anjolique from Elegant Lace in San Jose.
A meetup would be fun! As for vendors:
Hi! My name is Emily, and I am new to the wedding bee- but I could definitely use some support/help!! Our wedding is only 4 months away and I feel like I still have so much to do! All of my BM's and my mom are in Minnesota, and I have recently discovered how hard it is to plan a wedding when you are basically doing it on your own! A friend of mine told me about wedding bee, so here I am with a little info about our big day.... :-)
I should add a couple other vendors:
ceremony shoes: Saks (Shoe Salon) Union Square
Bkp reception shoes (in case the heels start to hurt): Macy's Stanford Shopping Center (and 50% off!)
Shoes for Indian events: Macy's Union Square (a few events, up to 75% off!)
Engagement Jewelry: Simayof
I will recommend my hair stylist, though my wedding will be in Mich., b/c she's amazing and so, so sweet...she often travels to locations to do brides and bridal parties: Diem Hoang
BM dresses : www.bestbridalprices.com (Alfred Sung)
Photographer : Michael Erdkamp (www.memoriesbymichael.com), based in OC but happy to travel.
The rest of my vendors so far are in Michigan or India...
Wedding date - 8.8.08 in Cancun, MX
The rest are from Cancun:
@EmilyKate: Welcome to Weddingbee! I'm so glad you found us and there's actually a good number of bees in the Bay Area, so hopefully we'll be lots of help for you!
Planning from LA but the wedding wil lbe in Bay area.
@emilykate - weclome to weddingbee!! we're here to help!
@lavenderpug - ooo Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton is nice! I looked at that location for my wedding but it was all booked up for my date. One of my friends got married there in 2007, it was beautiful!
I can send you some MUA info that we work with if you are interested.
@plumblossom - Mings is yummy :)
Hi fellow bay area bees! I have only 24 days left till my wedding... ahhhh! But the bee has been such a wonderful help!
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: tahoma; font-size: 13px">
Also I got my jewelry at Haute Bride in SF and one of my veils at Dori Anne Veils.
My wedding is about 13 months away, but I've been busy planning!
@CaliValley82: Welcome to Weddingbee! You know, we got my e-ring and our weddng rings from Steve Padis also! Mine is Tacori, not Verragio, though. We worked with Lisa, who did you work with?
fizicsgirl- I love that you know the dress I'm talking about. Fantastic choice in bridal salon!
I'm so glad to see all the Bay Area gals on here- when is everyone getting married?
June 27, 2009 is out date- seems like it's really close at this point.
@ Lillindy - We worked with Ellen at Steve Padis. She was fantastic! I didn't want to torture my fiancé with having to go shopping for rings with me, so I picked out the setting, and Ellen worked with him via e-mail and phone calls to help him pick the perfect center stone. I don't think they usually work with people making such a big purchase without seeing anything in person, but Ellen was very accommodating and even e-mailed my fiancé pictures of different diamonds.
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: tahoma, verdana; font-size: 13px">
Note that all my vendors are located in Sonoma County unless otherwisestated.
* Wedding Date: 04/19/2009 * Ceremony: http://www.nvoh.org/">Napa Valley OperaHouse * Officiant: Pastor Marvin Wray, Seventh Day Adventist * Reception venue: same as ceremony, it was a gorgeous locationbut not originally geared towards weddings so there was a learning curvefor both parties involved. I believe most of the issues have beenresolved and they should be easier to deal with now. * Caterer: http://www.sallytomatoes.com/>SallyTomatoes, they were the cheapest I could find while still havinggood food. Don't book them if you're a foodie, but I'd recommend the NewYork steak any day. Got rave reviews on the steak. * Coordinator * Photographer: I used http://www.ericaberger.info">Erica Berger and I would notrecommend her. Read her reviews on yelp and you'll find it's either ahit or a miss with a lot of her clients. Personally, even though some ofthe pictures were great, I felt it was a big miss. One of the reasons Ibooked her was because she offered a second shooter, while lookingthrough the pictures there is no evidence of any shots that wouldindicate there was another shooter there. IE: the second shootershadowed Erica and took the exact same shots as her, I have Groomsmenconfirming this during the ceremony at least. I'm considering asking forsome of my money back due to this and a few other things. * DJ/Band: Just Koolen Productions, I'd recommend them especially if you're on a budget, $600 forseven/eight hours including set up, break-down and travel from Antiochto Napa.* Florist: Sweet Pea's Floral Design, LOVED Karen with Sweet Peas. She wasexcited about working with me and completely got my vision. (707)318-1587. She was the most reasonably priced I could find in theNapa/Sonoma county areas, and still delivered everything I expected. Mycenterpieces were calla-lilies wrapped in grape-vine balls, only $35ea.
* Cake: Laura Dean with Cake and Truffle, she was great to workwith and even came to our apartment for the tasting. The cake was yummyand looked amazing! Her English Toffee cake with Peanut-butter fillingand chocolate ganache tastes exactly like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!Phone: (707) 490-7648 Email: cakeandtruffle@gmail.com Dress: Galleria Bridal, bought a Maggie Sottero sample dress andhad it altered at the shop. Great service and great dress. * BM Dress: One of my girls picked her dress at Galleria as well,no complaints. * Grooms Ring: Dan Corbin of D.C Jewelry Design (707) 568-6576 inSanta Rosa. Custom designed and fabricated a White Gold wedding bandwith Black Jade in-lay and three diamonds inside the Black Jade. OtherJeweler quoted a similar price but would not have been able to achievethe same design. Dan seemed highly knowledgeable on his chosen field,and was easy to work with. * Other vendors: 321 Photobooths out of Treasure Island* My mother in law purchased a Rasberry and an Almond flavoredChampaign, which went really fast. If anyone's interested, I'll findmore out about it, I even loved it and I HATE Champaign.
... sorry about the awful formatting in my above comment. I copy and pasted the text off an e-mail I created while at work and didn't notice the formatting issues when I posted it. Now I can't edit it.
hi, just wanted to update my list (i know when i was searching for vendors i was obsessively scouring weddingbee)--hope it is helpful to someone for ideas.
I am late to this game but would love to chime in! I live in Connecticut but am getting married in the Bay Area since that's where I'm from. If any of you have affordable suggestions for some of the empty categories below, please let me know:
