Aww honey! You need to join in on the Bay Area get-togethers they have once a month (organized by Miss Godiva). I haven't been able to make it yet, but they are such a lovely bunch of girls. Feel free to post frequently on weddingbee, we are all here to help!! Anything you need, if it's to ask us our opinion on flowers, or a dress, or just to complain about life. :) PM me anytime! What part of the bay area are you from?
@pengoala:thank you thank you thank you! i was beginning to think no one would answer. where can i find more info about these get togethers?
i live in the city, like on the edge of mission dolores and the castro
I think the meet ups are in the south bay...or the last one was.
I've never been to one but saw the thread in the "Nor Cal" group
I think their meet ups are in San Jose. Kinda far and I work those days.
I feel ya smitten_and_giddy. I do not know anyone else getting married. All my friends do not know anything about weddings and don't seem to care too much about weddings. Well one of my friends is getting married but she lives sooo far away and we don't speak much. Some of my friends don't even understand why I'm getting married!
Are you getting married in the city? We are probably going with Wedgewood Banquet Center. Its right next to Crystal Springs Reservoir, so the view is amazing! Just sucks that vegan does not seem to be their thing.
@xicaB: ALMOST went there. getting married in Sf now though and I'm sooper excited!!
It's really worth checking it out. Where did you guys decide on having your wedding, if I may ask?
Wedgewood was the first venue we toured. My FI ws sold but they quoted us 26,000 for 200 ppl, and I thought for that price we should find something in sf. We booked One L across the street from the Julia morgan ballroom. i LOVE it! It was perfect for us! Its actually called One Leidersdorff or something like that. i cant spell it so i just say One L lol! its also across from the Pacific stock exchange. Cant wait to take my pics in front of the pillars!! How do you guys like wedgewood? the booking girl, stacy?, was SO nice!! There was a moment or two i wished we had gone with the all inclusive but i have plenty of time to DIY invites...ugh! our count is 228 now!
oh and PM me ANYTIME!! i would LOVE to hear about your wedding! I mean it sincerly:)
@Angelz_love: Yeah I will definitely take you up on your offer! I'm here too, pm me anytime.
They are so friendly and helpful, which is one of the reasons we went with them. We're having a weeday wedding so our minimum is $3,000. We'll probably end up having a $5,000 wedding overall. Which is pretty cheap! Our guest list is pretty small compared to yours though lol. We're trying to keep it under 40 ppl which is very hard! I can easily see our wedding ballooning into a 100+ affair. I would have done the same as you though if they had quoted us that amount. With that amount you can get a really nice place in the city. I just looked the One L. Nice! It is very elegant. You're going to have some amazing pictures. Are they around the same price as Wedgewood?

heya,
i'm kinda on my own for this whole wedding thing, i don't have a mom or any female relatives really and i'm having a man of honor instead of a maid of honor. i only have a handful of female friends and they haven't been very supportive thus far.. a lot of "i thought cascade bouquets were 80s..." or "are you sure *you* want to go strapless?" or "i don't understand why you care about venue now, you still have ten months" and i just feel like i can't even communicate with them right now. is anyone else out there feeling a bit lonely on the journey and want to join forces in decision enabling?
i just feel so on my own and emotional about it all and hope there's some ladies in the bay that can empathize and maybe have a stich and bitch - wedding edition or something.
