Hi everyone! Was wondering if I could get some ideas of unique/beautiful venues in the San Francisco Bay area? I’m looking for a venue that has very nice outdoor garden/forest area, with an indoor reception area. I fell in love with Nestldown, but my only reservation is the indoor seating, plus my FI would prefer an indoor/ballroom-ish type of venue for the reception. I’m hoping to go no farther than SF/Berkeley/Los Gatos. Suggestions? Thanks!

Ok I kinda wish I didn’t see your post, because OMG I love Nestledown. This place is amazing!!!!!!!! I live in the East bay and have never heard of this place. OK enough drooling.
What exactly are you looking for? A garden/forest ceremony with a ballroom reception. Have you thought of getting married in tilden park, berkeley and reception at the Berkeley City Center or Fairmont?

Heather Farms in Walnut creek has a BIG beautiful garden. The venue itself has an outside patio connected to the indoor part but the hall itself isn’t “pretty”.

Check out the Mountain Terrace or Fogarty Winery. Both are outdoor/indoor spaces and lovely.

My fiance and I were looking for the same type of venues. We looked at a lot of places from Carmel up to the Sierras. We also looked at the Nestldown, it is gorgeous, but was way more than we were hoping to spend.
We looked at the Holly Farm, and Pol Mountain Retreat/Amphitheater of the Redwoods in Carmel/Monterey/Los Gatos. In San Francisco I would recommend looking at some of the locations in the Presidio. We liked the Log Cabin and the Golden Gate Club. The Officer’s Residence in Fort Mason was a good mix of indoor/outdoor. UC Berkeley Redwood Grove is lovely, but you would have to find a second reception location. We also went up to the Sacramento area and looked at the Monte Verde Inn, The Flower Farm, and the Forest House Lodge.
We went with the Forest House Lodge. It ended up being everything we were looking for and offered us much more for our money than any of the places we found in the Bay/Monterey/Napa areas. I love the lodge, and have had an amazing experience with them thus far. They really know how to take care of their brides and grooms.
Best of luck! Feel free to message me if you have any questions about local venues. I feel like my fiance and I looked at almost every possibility in the area!

@mtrl01: I second the Fogarty winery, it was our back up choice.
Well OP I would suggest the Grand Island Mansion (it is where we got married) but I’m not sure if it is too far. Is unique, over the top and meets all your requirements.
The ceremony area is outdoors with lush greens all around and inside the mansion are two different ball rooms…one very large for the reception (two story) and one smaller but just as ornate for the dancing, cake, toasts etc.

I’ve always loved the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. It’s simple, but rustically beautiful:
This is probably too far for you, but we got married at Ralston White Retreat, a historic mansion surrounded by 44 acres of redwoods in the North Bay:

@technoduckling: Hi There,
I am getting married in May @ Mira Vista Country Club.
The views are breathtaking, and we will be having the ceremony outside on the deck, with the reception inside in the ball room.
It’s kind of a hidden gem in the (East) Bay.
It’s better to visit in person if possible…. the pictures really do it no justice.
