LOVE IT! I'm so glad there's this whole movement of women who are trying to personalize their weddings and make every aspect of their big day meaningful! I say go for it! Use anything that makes a statement, about you and your FH! Good luck!
@proudpeacock: Thanks!! I think it's a bit strange though because those two don't necessarily go together, would you as a guest think that it was strange?
@krissy: you don't think it's strange either? i mean i like the idea behind it but i don't want it to seem random for lack of a better word... i mean m is from baton rouge, not new orleans. I could do Praline (pecan candy is what they call it here) and bbq? he really loves pralines...

I'm from the other side of the country, so I can't really say what your guests would think! To me, Pecan candy would probably go better, as most BBQ sauce has brown sugar/sweetness to it. Plus, from your pics, it looks like the Pecan candy would be easier to package. But either way - if you like it, your FH likes it, and it speaks to your personalities, DO IT! I've been learning not to second guess everything (I could second guess EVERYTHING about my planning for DAYS!) Good luck!
@proudpeacock: he's not my fiance yet lol i'm working on it. but it looks like i need to have some preplanning out of the way since he thinks we can get engaged and have a wedding planned in a few months. i like the pralines better as well but the beignets are YUMMY!! maybe i could just order some and have them waiting for guests as a midnight snack as they are leaving. am i the only one that leaves weddings hungry?! seriously the food is so pretentious sometimes that i wish i had a burger and friends!! (which is why we are doing a gourmet burger reception and perhaps a gourmet pizza station) that would be so flippin' awesome!! lol!! i don't know what m will say about the pizza or how feasible that is, but the burgers are definitely a go.
sure, they're kinda random, but they are two pieces that have meaning behind them!
OMG! Don't be posting food porn like that! I love beignets and would kill for one of those right now. Go for it!
@krissycake: maybe i could change the tag on the bbq to read: brides' hometown favorite and for the pralines do a circular sticker to read groom's hometown favorite?
@AZ: lol yeah even I am over here drooling lol!!
yeah i think so too and it is very personal because i LOVE bbq and the pralines are really good as well.
It sounds awesome. I love, love, love Cafe Du Monde!
The only think to think about is BBQ sauce is considered a liquid by TSA, which means your guest that are flying in for your wedding would have to check their bag (which now costs $20 per bag on most airlines). So, you'd run the risk of people leaving or throwing away their BBQ sauce because they can't transport it back with out paying to check their bag.
@pren79: i love beignets too!! yummy!!
@krissycake: oh you def have to come and go to cafe du monde!
@texasmeredith: i doubt if any guests will be flying in. but i could do a great bbq rub which serves the same purpose.
OMG. I'd love that food.
But of course, I'm also originally from Memphis.
It all depends on which sauce you use! It's really easy to fall in love with one there b/c it's the place with the greatest bbq ever!
I think the beignets would be a great second dessert option (mmm fresh beignets) and have the pralines as the favor!
Or you could have a beignet and praline dessert take home station!!! That would be soo cool!
Cafe Du Monde also does have amazing coffee also! I love New Orleans too!
YUM! You could always give the sauce at the beginning of the reception when favors are normally given and then have the beignets passed out at the end as a take home treat??
@belle: okay awesome! i am glad that you piped in because you are from memphis and you now we can be bbq snobs lol!! i like the beignet praline desert take home station that's awesome!!
@sunbeam:i didn't ever realize that favors were given at the beginning of a reception. usually they are given at the very end here or at each place setting.
I would love any and all of these. I think it is obvious they are regional and people will love them.
@grace: awesome! it is possible that some of my chicago family would be coming in so it would be fun for them to have both.

As most of you know, I'm from Memphis but living in Louisiana where M is from... Would BBQ and Beignets be a completely crazy random favor or would it oh wow this is really a cool way to incorporate the two of them?
