I’ve been reading that vaginal temps are more accurate, maybe it would be more consistent for you?

Wow – I didn’t realize the ambient temperature would have that much effect. I’ll have to keep that in mind. I’m going to start charting next week when I go off BC. We’re having roller coaster weather now as well.

I temp vaginally and I didn’t give it much thought until I saw your post but my temp has been much lower these past two mornings then it is normally….and like everyone else, we are having some unusually cold weather. We do keep the heat on it my house but our bedroom seems to get pretty chilly anyways. I’m now wondering if the outside temp is affecting me ….hmmm…

I have this exact same question (right down to the old apt and no heater on yet!) and was debating on posting it today, so I’m glad you did! I had a significant temp spike and a positive OPK on CD16 so I know I O’ed but since then the weather has turned cold and my temps have dropped. I would say that yes, the outside weather does affect I’m just not sure how much. I have had my progesterone tested and it’s in normal levels so I know that’s not te cause of low temps after O. I’m  honestly just commenting to follow and show support! Hopefully some of these smart girls can help out us newbies in temping!

I’ve thought about this too… we keep our heat low at night so it’s chilly.  But I’m usually pretty well under the covers and I actually don’t think it impacts my BBT that much.  I started temping last December and have until now, so I went through all of last winter.  I think as long as you can still see a temp shift, that’s the big thing.

MrsAndrus322:  So we put our heater on last night, not too high but just a bit so that my teeth weren’t chattering. My temp went back up today quite significantly and back above my coverline (it was right below after the initial spike from O and the the cold front that blew in). I know this second spike is not related to O (i.e. I previously mistook the last temp spike) since I don’t have any O symptoms, negative OPK, and non-fertile CM this time around. I’m betting that I was just freezing my butt off and it lowered my overall temp. So now just not sure if this months charting is a wash because of the discrepancy. Hope this helps!
