@lilybugg78: No it really needs to be at the same time, but different people have different sensitivities to interruptions. For me, sometimes when I think I've had a restless sleep, my temp is still the same as normal (a low temp, not high). So you might want to be consistent about it even through the disturbances (unless you get up) and then see what the results are. You can always note a disturbance on whichever app you use, but your temp will still show up.
I agree with Mrs. Green Grass, but I'm the worst at following my own advice. I had super restless sleep this month and gave up on temping -- and now I wish I hadn't! I'm doing it no matter what next cycle!
@Mrs Green Grass: thanks! "try to be consistent even through disturbances" as in, set the alarm at 4 a.m. and just "suck it up" (lol, I know that's not how you meant it), orrrr try it at my normal 7:30 a.m. wake up and just note that Ms. Thang Upstairs Woke Me Up Earlier? sorry this is just so new to me!
@bunny: I think "no matter what" should be my motto! I discourage too easily

I have been wanting to take my BBT every morning, but I keep discouraging myself because I just can't get any restful sleep. I know that the rule for BBT is that you're supposed to take it every day, at the same time before getting out of bed etc. My wake up times are never consistent though. One thing or the other will wake me up before my alarm goes off (such as upstairs neighbor stomping around at different morning hours, or me just waking up because I never fully sleep through the night.)
I have tried setting alarm for 4 a.m. which is hours before the neighbor typically wakes me in an attempt to be consistent, but when it’s 1:30 and I’m still tossing and turning I get fed up and turn off the alarm. Is it still possible to chart and take BBT even if I don't wake up consistently at the same time?
