Have you asked if the doctor can phone you in a prescription for just one month?  Mine did this once when appointments were booked up.

I don’t think there should be a problem starting them as soon as you can get your new prescription.  Is there any way you can go to a walk-in clinic to ask for a prescription refill?

In Canada our Pharmasits can write you a one month perscription if they have your old perscription on file. Not sure if it is the same in the States.

I agree with what charismaclassic said. Just ask your doctor to phone the prescription in for you.

my doctor has no problem writing in a prescription, as long as I’ve made the appt.

Don’t do that!  Call your doctor and explain the problem, they will call in a refill to your pharmacy.

I agree with previous posters. I got stuck like that once and they called in a scrip immeadiately after I scheduled my appointment for later that month.

Also, I think if you have two weeks where you don’t take any pills, you have to start over again… just like you did with the very first pack of birth control you ever got… and use back-up for a month.

If you start a new pack mid-cycle, it can mess up your cycle.  (I was on this pill for a few years and did just that.)  If you can’t get the script in time, I would wait and start them with your regular cycle like you were starting them for the first time.

Use a back-up method for the first month.

If you don’t want to bother calling your doctor back (but really, they will almost certainly send in the new prescription), you can go to your pharmacy and have the pharmacist call for you.
