I take Ocella.  Yasmin only came out with the generic brand about a year and 1/2 ago if I remember correctly.  I’ve had no reaction to switching to the generic brand Ocella.  In terms of how soon it is effective, I believe most are only considered effective after a month of use.  I wouldn’t count on it being totally effective before a month of being on it.

My periods typically only last 4 days since being on Yasmin/Ocella and are fairly light.  Cramps suck but I wouldn’t say they have increased or decreased for me as compared with other brands of B.C. pills.  In terms of acne I was doing fairly well on Yasmin/Ocella but after getting engaged I broke out like crazy from the stress so don’t expect it to be too perfect.

I took Yasmin for five years, then switched to Ocella when it came out. I never had any side effects from the Yasmin, had none in the process of switching to Ocella, and still have none now that I’ve been on it for a year or so. Works great for me!

I’ve been taking Yasmin for the last four years or so and just switched to Ocella to save $$.  I’ve never had a problem with either one and my periods last about four days.  No weight gain or any other side effects, in my opinion.

I’ve been on Ocella for a while now. The only thing I’ve noticed is when I’m really stressed  I tend skip my period for that month. My ‘ob/gyn says it bc I’ve been on BC for an extended period of time and its normal. Other than that the only difference I see btw Ocella and Yasmin is the price I pay.
