How often do you stop taking your birth control pills (or switch to the placebo pills)? I’ve been on my birth control pill for years (well over a decade) and over time I played with them when I would have a withdrawal bleed a little (ie. to avoid having one during finals or a school swimming trip or something like that).
One day I got feed up with all the problems I have when I’m not taking the pills. I asked my doctor about whether I could take my pills longer, similar to seasonale. My doctor seemed so happy I brought it up and she thinks its a great idea. I had to see a gynecologist who also felt the same way. I’m just slightly disappointed no doctor mentioned this to me earlier! I kind of have the feeling that there are enough people against the idea that doctors wait for patients to ask them about it.
I’m down to 4 withdrawal bleeds a year! If I decide to have kids I am really going to miss not being on the pill!
