Hey ladies!  I'm looking for suggestions on books to read on the honeymoon (we'll be at the beach).  I want something with a great story (it doesn't have to be completely brainless, but that is okay too).

Any favorite books you want to suggestion?

So while I am normally an Agatha Christie/Jane Austen type of girl, on the beach I love a quick, easy read.

Have you ever read any of Sophia Kinsella's books? She has a great series called Shopaholic and they are super fast and fun (IMO)- my favorite is the original "Confessions of a Shopaholic". A new book of hers that I just read was "Twenties Girl" and I thought it was had a good, fun plot.

The School of Essential Ingrediants by Erica Bauermeister. This was suggest to me by a BandN employee when I was wandering aimless for a book a few months back. It was SUCH an AMAZING book! i can't recommend it enough!

If you want more fluffy reading- The Sookie Stackhouse series (which True Blood is based on) is a million times better then the show! Also, the first 5 books of the Anita Blake series is awesome too (although after that, the next 12 books are bacially one giant sex romp).

For classic books, my FI has been reading me the Scarlet Pimpernell at night before bed and its a good book.

Here are some great books too:

Lisa Gardner books are good if you like a little crime thriller action when you're sunning. Same with Patricia Cornwell.

I also read Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels (think "Sahara") and imagine Matthew McConaughy. Yumm.

I read Emily Giffin's "Something borrowed" and "Something blue" by the beach during our honeymoon. Easy to read, girl books, I really enjoyed them.

Have you read The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger? It's a great story and a fast read.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden - same thing.

Me Talk Pretty One Day - laugh out loud funny!

Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen - old school chick lit.

Time Travelers Wife was one of my favourite beachy reads.

The Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire is quite fun.

Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes (actually any of her books) are fab light-hearted chick lit.

I read The Time Traveler's Wife on my recent beach vacation and gobbled up the whole thing in just a few days on the beach. I agree with Water for Elephants. Also, Eat, Pray, Love.

I'm going to echo the Emily Giffin suggestion, all of her books are great chick lit, easy reading.

I also like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (One for the Money, Two for the Dough, etc.)  for a little bit of mystery, romance, and lots of laughs!

My last beach read was The Lace Reader, which I enjoyed.  I just finished Girl with a Pearl Earring and Remarkable Creatures, both by Tracy Chevalier.  I've also been into anything by Carol Goodman recently.  For some reason I really get wrapped up in the moods and settings of her novels, like Lake of Dead Languages, the Ghost Orchid, The Night Villa...well, I really just like them all!

I was just reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo on the beach today! I also recommend Twenties Girl and any of the Emily Giffin books for "fluffier" reading.

If you like Young Adult lit at all, I recommend The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  Another favorite of mine is, The Nanny Diaries.  I've read it about a million times.
