If you decide to pick 3 styles you can ask your girls to coordinate so that the 3 v 1 scenario you described doesn't happen. Ultimately I found it easier to have everyone wear the same dress. I found mine on sale from jcrew.
That is so cute!!! I love that color too... I am gonna check out jcrew now
Our wedding has a Carribean tropical theme, and I've picked out 2 different dresses in the same color (shown in pic #2 - the "Tara" dress) for my girls; they can decide which style they want. They're both made of silk shantung, which is really lightweight. I don't think it matters who picks what style (i.e. 3 wearing one style and 2 in the other, for example) since they're the same color. You could also pick one color and have your girls pick the style (and/or shade of the color) they like. This way, they have a dress they feel more comfortable in and will (hopefully!) be able to wear again. Hope this helps!
P.S. - LMK what you think of the dresses!

i am having my BMs wear the same color/designer. the rest was up to them regarding length, style etc. they ended choosing similar dresses, except my MOH which kinds works out nice.
my color is lavender by dessy
I let mine pick out theirs on Dessy and love how they turned out (and loved that the girls loved their dresses). These are obviously not your colors, but here's a visual:

@aruka11: Love the way they look! Did you specify the fabric and the length also? Or did you specify just the color and everyone seemed to pick similar fabrics?
I have 8 bridesmaids and am worrying about the same thing! Plus, cost - I don't want them to spend too much money on a dress - I'm hoping to find some for less than $150... how was it to work with Dessy?
@viv137 - I mentioned that I thought the shorter, flowy dresses would be best but that they could get whatever made them happy. Dessy has chiffon, nu-georgette, etc.. so there are a few options. My girls live all over the world (Europe, Latin America, US) so each bought their dress where they wanted. Most got it online (some on EBay, others on more legit sites), and some went to a store. The colors looked identical in person and they were all quite pleased!
@aruka11: Those dresses look awesome! Everyone looks so great in the dresses of their choice
Has anyone else heard that chiffon is bad for beach weddings? I think it looks so pretty and flowy, but I had someone tell me that the sand gets stuck in the chiffon and it looks messy. Jw if anyone has had this experience
my girls are all wearing the same style but they can choose the colour....i WAS thinking from the purple pallette, but having seen some yellow ones on here, i am swaying a bit......Audrey Hepburn dresses fro my 4 girlies

@HoneyBear: If the dresses are long and touching the sand, the sand might stick to the bottom of the dresses, but in general I think some people worry too much about the sand -- it's a beach wedding!! Sand is part of the "charm," and having a beach wedding is always going to be a little messier/less formal than a fancy indoor affair.
If it's a real concern, just stick to shorter dresses (knee length or tea length) and it really shouldn't be a problem. I prefer shorter, flowy dresses for the beach myself. Something about seeing a little leg & bare feet or sandals looks far more beachy to me...
Also, I would check major department stores, like Macy's. So many of them now have bridesmaid-appropriate dresses that come in several colors, and they are usually cheaper/better quality than traditional BM dresses. I paid more than $200 for my MOH's dress (she's my 15-year-old stepdaughter) because she was hung up on it being a "real" bridesmaid dress, and I regret it - the quality was terrible, I wouldn't have paid HALF that much at a regular store for that dress.
@NotYourTypicalBride: Awesome! Thanks for your advice. I am going to check at macys today
@HoneyBear: Great! Check out dresses from Suzie Chin, Maggie London, Donna Morgan - they all have chiffon styles in various colors... good luck!
Due to sizing issues, I just found this dress for my BMs! The reviews said it's more of a dark teal, which is exactly what I want!! $90, but The Limited always has 40% coupons!

My girls are wearing this. It's originally a full-length dress, but we're having them shortened to knee-length.

The dresses we're getting are actually discontinued, if we wouldn't have been able to find samples; this was going to be my next choice:

These are the dresses my girls are wearing..but not in this color...They will be in Sunbeam Yellow! :)
My girls are all wearing David' Bridal key lime. I let them choose from 5 of the 7 short, cotton dresses. They're all gorgeous and affordable.

I am having the hardest time finding BM dresses for our beach wedding. Idealy, I want something soft and flowy and pretty for the beach. Maybe in a peach or light yellow color.
I had initially wanted them to chose their own dress, but its become more trouble that it worth. I really adore the mismatched look, so I was thinking about picking out 3 dresses and letting them pick one out of the 3.
Do you think it would look weird if 3 were wearing the same dress and one was wearing a different one? Ugh, Im so confused lol
There's lots of nice dresses out there, but they are so pricey! I would like to see what other beach brides are doing!
