I don't think it would be tacky but might not fit in with the outdoorsy beach theme as much. If you're going to spend money on sashes/covers anyway, why not just go with the wooden ones? I think it would look fine to have wooden chairs with nothing on them. The outdoor view is the real draw anyway, right? :)
I agree with the above poster. Save your chair cover/sash money and just get the nicer chairs. THe plastic folding chairs are quite flimsy, too....i'd spring for the better chair and save the setup costs (even if you buy the covers, most places will charge labor fee to assemble it all!)
I don't think it would be tacky either, but if you are on a tight budget, for a beach wedding I would just do the sash, if I were you. For me, I would skip both and put the money elsewhere. White folding chairs look really nice for a beach wedding with nothing on them.
Thanks for the comments so far.
I do want to save, so 2.50(nice wooden chairs) x 175 chairs = 437.50
Plastic Folding Chairs = 1.00 x 175 = $175. I think I could get probably 75% of what I buy the chair covers/sashes for, based on the classifieds I've seen on this site, so assuming I can, then the additional cost to me for the chair covers PLUS sashes would only be around 131.25. SO although a higher UP FRONT cost, it would be lower overall and actually add a more polished look, if people think it looks better with chair covers, that is....
SO CONFUSED !?!?!
Personally, I prefer the wooden ones, so that combined with avoiding the hassle of buying/selling/setting up sashes would probably be worth the extra $125 to me. Or I'd just do the plain white folding chairs sans cover and save even more (which is actually what I'm doing).
ETA: Actually, I probably wouldn't do any chairs on the beach. The skinny legs of the chairs will just sink into the sand, making the chairs likely to tip over. If the white folding chairs have 2 U shaped pieces instead of 4 legs, that would be better, but I'd still probably skip chairs on sand,
Our wedding is on the beach and our venue does the chair covers. We really didn't like how it looked, and are opting to go with the white plastic folding chairs. The full chair covers (we think) look really out of place outside. I dont even know if we'll do sashes, but it's a good idea!

We are having a beach wedding and are trying to save on costs. Plastic white folding chairs are only 1.00, while the nice wooden ones are 2.50 to rent. I'm thinking of buying poly chair covers and sage satin sashes and then reselling them to another bride after the wedding. Chair covers are nice, but I haven't seen them much in outdoor venues.
Another option is to get the white plastic chairs and sage satin sashes. Problem is, I've only seen pictures of sashes on the WOODEN chairs, no pics of sashes on the plastic folding chairs.
IS THAT TACKY? Would Chair Covers with Sashes at a Beach/outdoor wedding (the ceremony part) be tacky? So far, I think I've only seen the wooden chairs and chiavari chairs. If anyone has pics, that would be really great.
Thanks, bees :)
