I am considering Bear Mountain Inn for a summer 2012 wedding. I know the 2nd floor of the Inn is still not done, which is the space I would need, but I am optimistic it will be done. Does anyone have any insight into the 2nd floor of The Bear Mountain Inn? Am I naive to think it will be done?

I hate to be the gloom view but I can say That a girlfriend of mine booked with that new venue in Goshen. They are not done. She had to order new invites and find some place, any place with availability. Just something to think about.

@fozzyb79:When had she booked for? It seems like the previous caterer led people with false hope. We did see Bear Mtn Inn the other day and they are making active progress and I talked to many of the workers who felt optimistic. In the past construction had haulted becasue of funding, but funds seem to be ok at this point and the state just gave the Inn another 3.9 million to finish the project.

She was booked for 11/11/11 (at a venue in Goshen). She went with a new venue. If they got the grant then you might be ok then. I’m an anxious person so it would drive me crazy. Do they offer a plan B? I think the venue is a great choice. Your photos will be breathtaking I’m sure!

We’re actually getting married at Bear Mountain, though at the Overlook Lodge. It’s a smaller venue, though I really like it because it’s much more intimate and a bit more separate from the park and more private.
I don’t know about the progres of the Inn itself–I know it has been under construction for at least a few years, and when we met with them to set our date more than a year ago, it was supposed to be done beginning of 2011.
that being said, I wouldn’t put off the option of the Overlook Lodge. It is really beautiful, and the catering options and really everything so far has been really fairly priced and including a lot. (Plus the food is super good). And, so far they’ve been really helpful and quick to respond with our wedding planning.
Just my two cents. 🙂

Overlook Lodge looks nice, has anyone seen the cliff house? I haven’t seen it, but I heard they will do smaller weddings there.
