I'm an ER nurse, and I was getting vitals on a very frail old man yesterday. As I started to glove up, he grabbed my hand and looked at my ring. He said "Young lady, someone loves you very much. If I can tell you anything, I'll tell you to love hard, forgive easily, and never let each other become anything less than the most important thing in each other's lives. You can go out and replace material things, but you can't buy somebody's love. Cherish it always". I may or may not have teared up a little bit :)
You see all these posts on the Bee about people freaking out on family members about centerpieces, hating their photogs, annoying bridesmaids, etc (I'm guilty too!) but at the end of the day, its not even about that. Thank you to the total stranger who gave me a reminder of what a beautiful thing love and marriage are!
@Grizz: Ahhhhhh... thank you for this post. What a lovely sentiment.
This was something great to read!! Thank you for sharing!
So sweet! There's just something I love about old men. They're so honest.
So true and wise! Beautiful story. Thank you for sharing! It's exactly what I needed today :)
So sweet! I may or may not have teared up reading it :)
So beautiful and I so needed that today I was having an anxiety attack and reading that made me stop for a moment and helped me calm down a little.
@Grizz: D'aw. That was really cute. I work with geriatrics in my hospital and some of them make me tear up a bit too. They talk about their spouses often. It's really sweet.
Definitely teared up reading that, thank you so much! The part of all of this I look forward to the most is after the wedding when FI and I can start a new stage of our life together - amazing evenn so how easy it is to be distracted by other things!
This is such a great reminder to slow down and remember the reason to celebrate. Thank you for sharing this!
Aw, what a lovely man! Thank you for sharing - this was really sweet. I hope that we'll all be sweet old people someday passing on wonderful love advice to the younger generation, too.
:)
That is sooo sweet. I totally got all teary eyed. =o)
Thanks for sharing. That made my day!
That was really sweet, thank you for sharing :)
That's like right out of a movie. I'm surprised you were able to pull yourself together to continue checking on him. I would have been in a mess of puddles on the floor.
I love this so much. Especially love the fact I read this after posting a long post in a thread about people getting sooooooo hung up on their rings. For once, a piece of advice that makes ALL the material stuff irrelevent :) Something I can relate to from the heart :)
definitely made me tear up. what a sweet thing to say to someone :)
