- Wedding: June 2014
This is my first post, but I have been using weddingbee as a planning resource for about a year! We are getting married next June.
We know that we want something different for our reception (we will be getting married in a Catholic church and then moving the party to a different venue). We have been to so many weddings in halls, hotels, etc. and although they are beautiful, we just want something a bit more out of the ordinary. Since our wedding is on the official first day of summer, we wanted to go with an outdoor summery theme -enter the search for a barn.
There are two barns in our area, and one is booked through 2014. The other one we went to visit and we absolutely fell in love with it. It is rustic and beautiful, however it is very expensive.
The website says that the venue fee is $6,500 to host a tented reception and $1,500 extra if you want the barn. But then you also have to rent restrooms for $1,800, tables and chairs are an additional fee, and so on….
Long story short the lowest price we got was a little over $10,000 for a wedding of 100 people. All that includes is use of the space, restrooms, and tables/chairs.
The future Mr. wants to go for it, but I’m just not sure if I can justify spending that much money before anyone even gets fed. We would still need to hire a caterer, bartenders, buy booze, flowers, favors, transportation, briday party gifts, a wedding cake, wedding attire/accessories, decorations, etc.
Bottom line, the price of over $10,000 includes NOTHING but the space.
What do you all think? What price can you put on a beautiful atmosphere? Worth it or not?
Thanks for the feedback!!!!
