Just some background information: I’m getting married in November, in Nebraska! My dress is a ballgown, so nothing less than “heavy”. I have purchased gorgeous navy blue, peeptoe pumps. They don’t pinch my toes, and aren’t too narrow, but they have about 3 1/2-4 inch heels. My major concern is that on top of your feet hurting at the end of the day regardless, just hurting more from wearing heels. On top of that, my dress needs ZERO hemming with these shoes. Many have said just take my shoes off for the mass amounts of dancing that will happen, however we are having a second reception two weeks later, so my dress needs to survive and drug through the muck of the dance floor as little as possible. Do I sacrifice and possibly suffer in heels? Or find something comfortable? HELP, LADIES!!

crotanz: Some bides find platform flip flops to change into so they don’t have to worry about the hem getting too dirty due to changing the heel height.

PLATFORMS!! So many people have said their lasting memory of their wedding night is foot pain. I would really try to find something as comfortable as possible, unless you’re one of those crazily lucky people that can wear heels all night long without pain.

crotanz: What is the status of the 2nd reception? If it’s “just” a party for those who couldn’t travel to the wedding, I suggest wearing a different dress for the 2nd reception. That way you could change out of the heels after the ceremony and photos, for the reception, without worrying about dirtying the dress.
