Check out Kohls, that’s where I got mine from. Mine is brown with white around the edges, which I only picked out because of the fiance.. I really liked the girly looking stuff but as he pointed out he has to sleep there too. If you get something some what plain you can always add some girly touches to it with some decorative pillow & your curtains.

Not speaking from personal experience (I picked everything and its light blue with pink flowers, not very manly) but I’ve seen good things at JC Penny Home Store.

We got ours at C&B when they had different patterns–ours is all black with a simple white piping about 6″ in from the edge, all the way around the duvet cover.  Our sheets are from Macy’s, they’re Charter Club’s “lake blue” and we both love them.  We have pillowcases that match the duvet and that match the sheets (cause we have a lot of pillows) and it ties things together.

Recently I’ve seen some I like at Pottery Barn (FI proclaimed them “a little too girly, but livable” and said he would think about it) and Williams-Sonoma Home (he likes these better but some of them read masculine to me)…I feel your pain!

Here’s the one we registered for from Crate & Barrel. I know you said you want to move away from blue, but it comes in a gorgeous green and a plum color, too.

Here’s one FI liked from PB that we agreed would be livable…we have a lot of white and light grey in our room, as well as a lot of solid black pieces (I like a modern, “clean” look).

Maybe something your FI could deal with, too?  It has just a stripe of a grey-blue, but isn’t BLUE.

For some reason Bedding was the hardest thing for FH and I to agree on.  Plates and other stuff like that?  No problem.  Bedding?  Multiple shopping excursions.

We got silvery-gray bedding from Bed Bath and Beyond.  It comes with white sheets, but we registered for dark blue ones as well, to add a little interest.  I’m a fan of getting a fairly neutral bedspread and then different types of sheets to update it (or change seasonally).

Like Ms. Sparkles, The Gridworks set is what we registered for.  We’re very excited about it!
